Fog:

Using the new sky box, how do I stop it turning off when the TV is turned off.?  Never did this when using the Vodafone box. Can anyone help please.?

This sounds like an HDMI CEC setting.
Since the sky box is based on android TV I would imagine there will be a setting for it somewhere in the configuration menu.

[snip] A Fast Ethernet switch can transfer data packets at a rate of 10 megabits per second.

Kind of. 100 Mb/s is actually the max for Fast Ethernet at PHY layer. That's still plenty fast for streaming video, and can also provide a small power saving over Gigabit. Over 1,000s of STBs those power savings add up, as does the extra cost of Gigabit.

Hi

I have just received the new android box and connected it to my denon 3700 sound system.
The problem i have is the audio output is only in stereo no matter what TV channel i select or even if i play Netflix. Is this how it should work with audio output? I would of thought the sky box would of pushed out DD+ etc based on the audio content that was available to play.

Thanks

Do they still plan to charge $200 to switch to this new box? I have 3 here so thats $600? Which seems mental given our new TV's do everything the box can apart from sat.

The CEO on the  new box,

There will be tiered loyalty discounts. “Those who’ve been with us 30 years, they certainly shouldn’t be needing to pay. And then it steps down, depending on whether you’ve been with us five, 10, 15, 20 years,” Moloney says. The discounts will be delivered through the Sky Rewards programme.

This may change my mind as i have been with Sky for 25 years so ii will be interesting on what i will be charged for the new box.

lol, loyal to the bitter end, I signed up in 1992 and over that time I have been offered Soho for 1 month free and my dish and bracket was rusted tried charging me $90 to replace it but ended up doing it for free!!

I don't mind paying $200 for the Sky box but should waive the $15 per month for recording

That sucks, I've been a Sky subscriber since the 1980's. but I got married, then divorced, then married again and each time I changed my surname I had to create a new account as Customer Support couldn't or wouldn't change my surname. And then I had Sky through VF, and then I had to change it back. I suspect according to them I've probably only been a customer for 8 years.

I hate the thing already. To me it seems slow and laggy and throws an activation error every time I change channel and says I have to call customer service - I'd rather bin the box than call.

Thats how it works when you get too old! 😀

I know I was living in West Auckland, and that was 1989-1995.

And was an early adopter.

Felt like late 80s, but was obviously early 90s.

My bad, but I bet I still get stiffed 20+ years of service.

All fixed, OK service, apparently it was only a matter of sending a signal to the box. I was 3rd in queue and took 25 minutes with an estimated waiting time of 2-3 minutes.

0800 759 190 is the number to call for these new devices. 0800 759 759 is Sky's main customer service number.
