Breezzee: I was quietly happy to find the SSN app on the ShieldTV last week.
Gave it a good run over the weekend with the V8’s, Netball and the Warriors game.
On par with the ATV version.
Given the quality issues , that seems to indicate its a device issue?
SeymourScagnetti:
Hi all,
A couple of quick answers:
The Sky Sport Now App is available on the following Sony Bravia TVs:
- BRAVIA 4K 2015
- BRAVIA 4K GB
- BRAVIA 2K GB ATV3
- BRAVIA 4K GB ATV3
- BRAVIA 4K UR1
- BRAVIA 4K UR2
- BRAVIA 4K UR3
- BRAVIA VH1
- BRAVIA VU1
We have also added a range Android TV powered devices as some of you have noted and will continue to support more once we have run them through testing. The Freeview Smart Vu+ and select TCL TVs are recent additions as well as Nvidia Shield.
The 24 Hour Catch-up feature is now available across all Sky Sport Now devices/Apps by scrolling backwards in the TV Guide.
We agree that we need to sign-post the Catch-up feature a bit better - and will do so now that it is universally available.
Regards Alex
Sky Sport Now
It'd be appreciated if when clicking on an inprogress even, you can start from the beginning.
Currently, I need to wait until the end of the game to watch backwards? otherwise I end up in live coverage.
Anyone finding the phoenix coverage particularly juddery tonight?

Not into that or on SSN now, but, maybe its of interest but I watch golf on Sky. It's great. In the background tonight is a replay, again on Sky (not SSN) and its rubbish. Jerky, artifacts. Its like they have limited bandwidth so its just a reply so cut it back? Seen that before, but mostly I record, which is live.

kharris: The picture during the hurricanes match has been rubbish at times. Poorest quality I’ve seen in ages.
Ditto for the Crusaders/Highlanders game - quite difficult to follow the action at times.
Anyone against me starting a new thread for Sky Sport Now quality issues? I feel like a lot of stuff is getting lost in this giant thread from 2019.
For me personally, the difference in quality between Sky Go and Sky Sport Now is probably the biggest problem with the Sky Sport Now service and it is constantly glossed over in this thread.

Good idea. The frame rate issue for Sky Sport Now makes the service unusable for me, and I've tried everything. Sky Go looks fine. Spark Sport has been great on ATV4K too -- really enjoying the cricket and no frame rate issues on Spark Sport.
Very bizarre. Clearly Sky has the capability, but must be downgrading so its not too good.
This continues to be my biggest issue with SSN, especially with football. Even NRL is a tough watch at times. Once my NRL promo pass finishes in December, I think i'll end up cancelling. I expect better quality video for $40/month. Spark knock it out of the park, so not sure why Sky can't either.

Sky absolutely can do better - in fact they currently ARE doing better with Sky Go. If you've ever had the opportunity to compare the same stream side-by-side between Sky Sport Now and Sky Go, you won't wanna go back to SSN in a hurry. Right now, Sky are running two streaming services concurrently, both with different upstream providers. My guess is that they are too invested in whoever is supplying the SSN video streams to simply switch over. Their apps are all built around this platform so it is probably no small feat.
I still feel that if SSN rocked, they would see more churn from Sky To SSN

If you're suggesting that they are happy to leave it as-is in order to mitigate the mass-exodus, you could be right. I'm actually a huge fan of the service though - I think it is a really good offering and I want to love it! But I'm bitter about the quality - I've signed up about 4 times and cancelled after a month or two each time because I've grown despondent with the framerate issues. On a big TV, it's just not good enough for having the mates around for the rugby etc - I inevitably end up asking a mate to cast from his Sky Go app instead.
