kharris: You could try ringing 0800 4 SKY TV (0800 475 988)

This is their telemarketers, not their regular consumer line, so they provide much better deals than sky can.

This is for new customers only.

My deal was a couple of months ago but I got:
$48 a month deal:
- Sky Basic
- Mysky+
- Sky Movies
- Sky Sport
It is for 1 year service.  The contract is for 6 months so you can change services after that time or cancel with no early termination fee.

I also added the HD ticket for $10 - so $58 all up.  Still a great deal.

Do you have to have Movies as one of your choices or can you substitute a better channel like Soho?

Why didn't I think of that?!?!?  I don't really watch sport.

Rang up and changed - as long as you do it before the install date (which is tomorrow for me) then there's no problem.  I know the sports package is more expensive but we only ever watch football and have the PLP for that anyway.  Strangely though, as I'm not having the movies and sport together, I don't get the free copy of the SkyWatch magazine - not a biggie either.

In case anyone comes along this thread, the deal is still going.

Just signed up for sky basic, movies, sport, mysky+ decoder, and the skywatch all for $48/month.

6 month contract, but deal lasts us one year.

Oh, and they told me to tell people to sign up! 0800 4 SKY TV.

richms: Parents are terrible at giving far too much information to companies over the phone, probably told them all about how they had sky and it was so wonderful blah blah.

Just thought I would post back and confirm that it was certainly due to my father giving out far too much information so they denied him at the time from taking up the offer.

I called last week and spoke to a nice lady, explained I was looking to set up Sky on my parents behalf, and had no issues with getting the deal as described. (Basic, Movies, Sport, MySky HDi+ decoder and Skywatch magazine for 12 months.) We also upgraded to HD for $10.

Everything was installed yesterday and service up and running now - I was also encouraged to "tell all my friends", so no indication that this offer is going to finish up anytime soon. She also mentioned to call this number as opposed to the usual line as "this deal is better", FYI for anyone sitting on the fence...

Do current subscribers out of any contract get any kind of deal? Or is the "flatmate" routine the only way to go?

Good idea, but what about CWC?  Ive had Sky for an age, the doc channels are great, but I would like some recognition as being a 10 year plus subscriber. Its a bit sad to get the CWC out of the way and cancel, then subscribe to get a deal. Ive setup Lightbox, I don't need movie channels, and there are easy options to get anything I want from alternative sources. Which I don't as I pay for Sky

I could cancel Sky and get pretty much everything alternatively, plus what I do not subscribe to. So, my hope is that I keep Sky as its clean and easy, I use Lightbox as complimentary, and maybe I will find Netflix NZ value. I could have all, if it shows value. Lightbox is value, Netflix appears value, that just leaves Sky

Did you have to phone up for that deal. When I try to do it online I get charged for the Mysky box. But rest of it works ok.

Sweet, just signed up with deal. Have to say really nice people to deal with on phone compared to ones on normal Sky number.
