Me too, if you're a sports fan you can't live without it

Agree about ESPN coverage of Champs League, it's terrible and could be so much better if we had ESPN HD like Foxtel in Oz

The cherry on the cake for me would be if we got CBeebies as the kids love it (again, Foxtel has it)

Apparently it's not that good. Still not actually in HD (just upsampled) and you still get the cr*p coverage & commentary. (it's widescreen though)

I'm thinking of ditching it too. It's a shame they repeat stuff so much and don't give us the HD we want as it makes one consider other options

With more and more dumbed down programing on Sky it is on its way out of my house, discovery and National Geographic almost have more reality TV on them than MTV. UKTV is soap opera hell and they replay movies 20 or 30 times a month. I hate sport so in general bye bye sky.

Don't have sky, don't want sky, don't watch sport (exception is v8 Supercars on CH3 FTA). If I like the look of a movie, I buy/rent.

However currently in discussion with wifey about Freeview DVB-T (I would like TV & V8's in HD)

V8's certainly aren't HD on TV3, TV3 have never shown any HD sport as yet that i can recall.

EDIT: As they don't have the equipment to do so, may not have it for years. They also appear to have no HD studio camera ability.

The V8's aren't shot in HD at all. and never have been.

Tony Cochrone commented a couple of years ago that it was on the horizon, but not a priority.

In that particular case it has nothing to do with TV3 being cheap rsd. They do however manage to destroy the coverage they get all by themselves.

They also committed to showing the V8's live on a dedicated channel, when they stole the rights from TVNZ, who used to show them on TVNZ Sport Extra Live, but they have now munted it back into the "play it when we feel like it" approach.

If you like watching the V8's get a dish, point it at Optus D2, and watch the "World Feed" live, and uninterrupted. You'll also save about 30-45 minutes of time for every race you watch...

I couldn't cope without the English Premier League coverage, seeing Spurs play each week (well most weeks) is non-negotiable.

I usually watch the Warriors, always watch the Phoenix.

I watch very little on any of the other SKY Channels, from time to time there is a good docu on one of the History/CI or Docu chanel, but rarely.

Discovery has turned into a crap channel now, full of reality motorbike/car related shows...

In it's current form, SKY is an absolute waste of money.

I wonder how many of you with SKY actually watch more than 10% of the channels available to you?

If Sky were say.. $10-15/month for decoder + free to air channels, and then I could tack on individual channels (or their packages without the 'basic' package), I would probably get it for F1 and misc sports.

But until then, I just don't want the garbage that comes with Sky Basic!

Yes it seems to have gone like that...little other history seems to exist, it appears.

Would that still be the case if the true price of the Sports channel ended up being $50/mth?
I think on a true cost plus shared cost basis that Basic is subsidising Sport.
Ofcom has a view that the wholesale price of Sport in the UK is GBP10/mth (I think) but the analysis looks ropey IMHO.

Would you play $70 for the right to watch just the World Cup 2010?  Thats the price for the event in Singapore.

Yep, I would, as long as it covered all pool games and finals, and be in HD.

Still, it would be cheaper just to subscribe to the sports channel for the duration, assuming that I have an existing basic subscription.
