Cant agree. There are people that walk the streets, oddly called street walkers, for power companies and telco's. The centre that manages these Sky deals is the same thing, apart from walking the streets. I called them, very helpful and knowledgable. Due to my house, I got a Sky contractor to assess where and how he will fit the dish. I told the centre, they made sure he was my installer. Pretty good service.

No one is denigrating the call centre. You've missed the point entirely.

Then why not clarify your point instead of a half pie reply?

" It's like going to a Jehovah's witnesses church to talk to the door to door evangelists. " Seems denigrating to me, hence my post

I think you have missed the irony part of the post and rather just seen the Jehovahs witness comment and assumed he was being insulting.

He was comparing going to a church rather than them coming to him (as is most usual). He compared that to calling a call center rather than them calling him (as is most usual).

To clarify calling the telemarketers, because yes... it is ass about face... Sky is apparently not 100% happy that the number has been made fairly public but there is not much they can do.  The telemarketers do have the facility (obviously) to process requested from incoming calls however this is supposed to be occasional adhoc requests.  The telemarketers roll is obviously to call perspective customers and attempt to entice them into signing up.

And I bet they get paid by the sale so they'll love the incoming calls.

I signed up to this deal a few months ago - $39 bargain. Then when I was speaking to Vodafone the other day, they asked if I would like a $10 discount on my sky bill. I happily said yes.

Boom - now its a $29 deal! (Actually $54 because I have another decoder and HD too).

Can anyone share what the latest is with this deal?

I'm leaving Vodafone cable (long story) so interested to see what deals people have been getting of late.

When you do call them they will ask you how you learned of this deal. When I mentioned Geekzone the operator let out a little chuckle.

I got Sky Basic + Sport + Mysky (unsure of size) for $39 a month for 12 months, I'm adding on the HD ticket as well.

I'm happy with that
