Deal is still on, really easy people to deal with and should get the package installed within 3 days. Got Mysky+ , Sports, Movies and HD ticket for 12 months, $58 per month and free installation. What a deal!

Also just signed up $48.07 for Basic, Sports, Movies, MySky+. Contract is for 6 months and the pricing is kept for another 6 months after that.

Didn't ask if that included the HD ticket. Thats got to be under 1/2 price.

Confirming that this offer is still available as of today's date via the 0800 475 988 number (new customers only).

$48.07 does not include the $10 HD ticket but interestingly, I was advised that you can turn this off and on monthly as required (so if you want to watch, say, the Rugby World Cup during September and October, you could activate it for that period and then switch it off.

Presumably, this very likely works on your billing period cycle though rather than calendar months so you'd need to be clear on that for events that run over a protracted period but still cool that you don't always need to have it on or pay for it if you don't want to.

I got it thanks to the input from this thread :) paid the $10 extra for hd as I watch plenty of sport (when SWMBO allows!)

Are you legally blind? Those are about the only people that will not notice the difference with sky in HD. The SD product is so poor that its not fit for anything more than a 25" CRT that was the latest state of the art tech when the standards that SD mpeg 2 use was developed prettymuch.

If you have anything better than that, you need HD.

No seriously though I don't have the HD ticket on Sky and can't say I'm bothered enough to spend $120/year for a benefit that affects so few of the programs I watch outside of the TVNZ/domestic HD channels. Most of the "on-demand" content I watch is SD with the exception of PLP. I buy the blu-ray if I want HD and ear-bleeding sound.

I would say sign up without it and see what you think. If you hate it, add HD on - if it's not as good as you thought, take it off again.

Procrastination eventually pays off.

Lol! I fear I may be legally blind, am thinking of subscribing to the SkyBraille ticket for $20 a month...

I'll reserve judgement until I've seen it with my own (slightly defective) eyes - I have a full HD 55inch plasma which I very much enjoy watching 1080p content on... the proof will be in the sports pudding really...

Take special note of the visible macroblocks and compression artefacts apparent around all moving objects. Not really comparable to to any online on demand service at all, its just 2 Mbps mpeg2 in all its vulgarity after transcoding from an H.264 stream.

Spark Max Fibre using Mikrotik CCR1009-8G-1S-1S+, CRS125-24G-1S, Unifi UAP, U6-Pro, UAP-AC-M-Pro, Apple TV 4K (2022), Apple TV 4K (2017), iPad Air 1st gen, iPad Air 4th gen, iPhone 13, SkyNZ3151 (the white box). If it doesn't move then it's data cabled.

have been with sky for 5 years and just got sick of the constant repeats. Sky need a sports only package for like $25 a month... The rest of their channels are not really worth paying for when there is FTA, Netflix and Lightbox...

I'm hopeful they might do this one day but until then its bye bye SKY.

For the new customer novelty factor and the sports it's worth the $50 ish quid but once the 12 months at that price elapses it's likely that I'll be canceling. By then though, who knows what offers will be available.. the advent, evolution and wider adoption of on-demand services should change the landscape a bit between now and then...

Does anyone know if you can change package after purchasing this cheap deal.

Ive got Basic, Sport and Soho with HD for $58. But I know I could of got Movies instead of Soho which id like to change to. Just nothing on Soho I watch.

If I can change, do I do it through Sky or ring the Get Sky number.
