So Sky won't be doing any more telemarketing after the end of the year?

Seems so. But early next year it all changes. The puck is early 2019? The full app is later. Spark Sport kicks off early 2019, Feb I recall? At least March for F1. We don't know Sky or Spark pricing, so all we can do is speculate and have the chequebook ready.

Ask John Fellet - he thinks families still argue over what channel they're going to watch

Haha, the TV is barely switched on in my house, it's more like is there anything on even worth watching these days?

Lizard1977:

Just got an email from Sky advising that they are unlocking all channels to which we don't subscribe for the period from 6am 24 December until 7 January 2019.  So things like Movies, Entertainment, Sports, SoHo, Rialto etc.  On Sky Go too.

One thing I found with these unlocked channels is that you can't schedule a remote recording on them but can record them via the remote.

Thats a pity, but I assume you are not subscribed to them so maybe the RR baulks, they are unsubscribed but unlocked.

I called and cancelled my sub the other day as the $50 deal is expiring for me at the end of this month. :(

After asking why I was cancelling (this was immediately obvious when the support person looked at my account and saw what I'd been paying haha) all they could offer was to extend the same deal for another two months, but nothing more than that.

The minimum cost to get the Sport channels in HD is now about $65 a month, which is still too much IMO, especially considering that Sky don't have the rugby world cup this time around.

Having had all the channels unlocked this past week has made me realise ....there really is nothing on sky channels worth watching any more.

That's interesting. You have Sky, there is nothing worth watching, you pay the bill every month. Ok, :-)

I suggest the actual problem here is that you are paying for a service that you have no need for, that's actually your fault

I should clarify, I was on a reduced deal as I went to quit sky middle of last year, they offered a deal to stay that sees me through til next month. The offer over Xmas to open up the extra channels has been interesting but has not convinced me to stay any longer with them. When my current deal runs out then yes you are correct I have no need to pay them.
