razor2000nz: yes the deal from the telemarketers is still running, i signed up for it last Monday under my partners name, then cancelled the account under my name on the Wednesday, technician brought new box round Saturday morning. $58 for 12 months....saving me $60 a month...........happy days

Could you have kept the old box?

Just thinking of all my TV I have recorded!

When you cancelled the account under your name did you unhook the STB yourself and return it or did a tech do it?

Also when you signed up under your partners name:
 - did you do it or did your partner?
 - were the telemarketers suspicious of what you were doing at all?
 - or did they not care?

didn't ask if i could keep it as i didn't have anything to catch up on, plus i also upgraded to the HD+ box instead of HDi box.

i told the telemarketers i was moving out and the people staying at my house were the new connection

Initially my partner rang, they were closed. They rang us  back on Monday i just had to be able to provide partners details.

- they did ring me back the next day and said its come up on their system that i already have sky at your address, told them i was moving out etc, they were fine with that. (they cant book a new install into an address that has sky) they told me to unhook it and take it into the local sky branch so they could cancel existing connection on the spot, if you this over the phone you have to wait 30 days.

If i had to it again i would do it this way.

- Ring the telemarketers to confirm deal is still running. -one confirmed - tell them you will think about it.
- Take your old STB into local branch to terminate contract on the spot.
- Ring telemarketers back 24 hrs later and sign up under partners name.

Got the flyer in the mail yesterday promoting the same deal.

So I signed up for

Basic
Sports
Movies
mysky

$64 a month.

This is where it should be and a reasonable price point that people can afford. You have to wonder if customers are ditching sky and running for netflix and the likes.  Don't think I've ever had general flyer discounting thir products for 12months. Also wonder if they continue to loose customers and content this price point could become permanent.

That's not quite the same deal.
Basic
Sports
Movies
mysky plus (which costs more)
$48 a month.  I assume this has been adjusted for their latest price increases so may be a few more dollars now

$64 includes $15 mysky box, otherwise you pay $49 and have to go with the standard decoder.

If you called the number listed on this thread ( telemarketers number, not Sky) they would have given you the MySky+ box for free... usually an extra $20/month

You would have got everything you listed for $49

The deal from Sky themselves does not included this and as you have pointed out it costs $15 extra for mySky (or $20 for mySky+)

PS.  You will not find this deal on the web anywhere.  You have to ring the number.

Isn't there a 7 day cooling off period that you can invoke and then get in contact with the telemarketers?
