The email from Spark says that you can change or dump your current plan with no fees if you notify them within 30 days. That’s good. But you can’t look around the new platform, check the content, and watch three free hours until it launches on 7th July.

So if you wait, look around and decide you don’t like it, it’s then too late to change your plan for free - or am I missing something?

Cheers,
Pete.

You can go to Neon web site https://www.neontv.co.nz and have look at what titles are available without having an account.

Can search or click at top Movies or TV or Coming soon.

You already have access to Light Box so know what’s there and quality of play back. With Neon a selection of movies is included as well, Like “Joker” is on the coming soon.

If want more info on title look for preview YouTube or IMDb to get more idea what title like. Doing that should give you some idea if interested or not.

There is also JustWatch NZ.

Whilst the difficult we can do immediately, the impossible takes a bit longer. However, miracles you will have to wait for.

I also see Neon terms and conditions are changing. Currently all TV and movies are available as part of the subscription but the new terms and conditions mentions movie rentals. So does that mean all of Neons currently available movie catalogue will move to a rental basis? Does anyone know?

This appears to be a big change in the value proposition.

Aren't all Lightbox movies, rentals? If so, then the value is unchanged.

I'd imagine it refers to Lightbox's existing rental service. I'm guessing this is going to be integrated alongside Neon's existing movie selection.

Please re-read. Lightbox movies may have been rentals. I am talking about Neons terms and conditions. Neon movies have always been included in the subscription charge. Changing Neons movies to *all* be rentals would be a big change in value.

So they all become rentals going forward? I never had to pay for Neon movies before.

What I meant was that Neon's movies would likely be retained, but that they would be supplemented by Lightbox's existing rental collection

Yeah but the movies get there from the sky movies channels eventually so change often. It worries me this may be the beginning of a more permanent change to rentals for neon.

I was meaning this applies to Lightbox movies. So LB movies continue as rental as that's what the rights give, and Neon based movies stay as they are

It would be cheeky if Sky rented "free to air" movies. Of course few will ever know after a while, but if they do that then as you mentioned earlier it is less value. Skys new CEO is the type that wants any service they have to be more desirable, so I doubt they will pull that stunt.

I suspect new release movies would be rentals and 6 month plus movies would be included in the Neon subscription.

This is covered here

https://help.lightbox.co.nz/lightbox-and-neon/movies-on-new-neon

Neon will continue to have movies as part of the subscription, as it does now

You will also now be able to rent the latest movies a la lightbox, Google Play, apple store etc
