Checking via the live chat - I asked if the service would be true on demand (so I could re-watch something that screened earlier on in the day) and the response was:

we will provide highlights and replays rather than on demand

So - sounds essentially like streaming the existing sky channels over the internet.  The highlights I've found a bit hit and miss on the existing Fanpass (not least due to the score bugs been missing during a "highlights" session)

Have you tried the ‘playback’ function? It lets you watch any game that was aired in the last 24hours. It only works on a pc but includes all the score details etc and is essentialy a full recording of the last days stream. I’m hoping they bring the feature across to the Apple TV app with the update 🤞

I hope this isn't right!  On the current Fanpass, I can watch a game any time after it has aired for (I think) 12 hours.  So if this is no longer possible, this is a major feature downgrade.

If this is the case, I’m out. I’ll stick with my STB.

I knew about the pc based replay (although that didn’t always work -showed the wrong shows sometimes when I last looked at it) ... it’s no where as convenient, or on as big a screen, as the AppleTV.

I didn’t ask on the online chat about the pc based replay. I guess all will be revealed in less than 8 hours ...

I mentioned this a few pages back. I don't believe Sky Sport Now is providing true on demand streaming. The like of which many of us have become accustomed to through Kayo. It is linear streaming of the 12 Sky Sport channel plus limited highlights and replays. Essentially the same as Fanpass provide now.

I really hope they do move to proper on demand streaming but until they do I'll stick with Kayo

Has the launch been delayed? The main website now has a big logo down the page saying "Sky Sport Now coming soon"

New website is up at https://skysportnow.co.nz/ which I just made a guess to see if there was something there.

I saw something about 8mbps in there too, did you?
Also looks like the FAQ has just had a find a replace for the word fanpass to sky sport now

Ok, so no OD replays

Simply search back through the electronic programme guide on the PC/Mac version of SKY Sport Now and click play.

You can scroll back up to 24‐hours ‐ all programmes that STARTED in the last 24‐hours should still be there for you to watch. Please, always check the start date of the programme (not the event, as these times often differ) before relying on this feature, as it's an added extra, and not something we can guarantee.

If you do miss both the live event and the playback option, SKY Sport often schedules replays of the big events. Check the programme guide for replays.

It says PC/Mac, does that mean PC or a Mac hardware, or does it mean browser? It seems to mean not in the app but in a browser? In which case you could use your tablet/phone's browser casted/Airplayed to your TV? That gives a poor man's "recording" for just 24 hours, plus possible replays.

Looks much more features than fanpass, not quite as much as Kayo though - lacking full on demand offering.
On the guide on the iPhone app you can scroll back like a reverse epg and there is a play button, that looks to be available for the shows in the past 24 hours, can’t test it though as I don’t have a subscription

Looks that way, it seems identical, just more channels included

First mistake

Remember if you're a SKY Sport subscriber you can access SKY Sport 1‐4, ESPN and pop‐up channels on your set‐top box and with SKY GO available on PC/Mac and selected tablets and mobile devices.

SkyGo has all sports channels

What extras are you seeing? It seems like Fanpass renamed to SSN but with all channels, that's all I see. The playback you refer to is PC/Mac only

May as well have called it Fanpass 1.1

This is a bit disappointing to be honest.

I was hoping it was going to be as good as Kayo (even at $39.99/ month vs $AUD25 / month) but it is pretty basic. No on demand going back more than 24 hours, no ability to start a game a bit late and watch 15 minutes behind (put the kids to bed and then turn on the rugby).

In my mind, Kayo sports is the gold standard in Streaming Sports at the moment.

If they improve this over time I'll swap, but for now this is to basic for too much money for my taste.
