The only issue I am battling with the new Sky Box is that I can only pair one remote at a time, so having extra remotes in the other rooms are not an option.

Remote lag is another issue and FF x64 is slow!!

Otherwise I am overall happy with everything else, cough!!

Have you tried pairing other brands of remotes such as the Vodafone TV remote?

Anyone else having CEC issues - power on/off? Noticing this is become really annoying.

I have 2 of the latest Samsung QLED TV's and 2 new Sky Boxes. Setup the same on each TV. Power off from the Samsung TV remote - all is good and the Sky Box goes into standby. Powering on from the Samsung TV remote and there are many times that the Sky Box does not power on or it does then off again.
This is super annoying!

Have now disabled CEC on the Sky Box so power off using TV remote and the Sky Box still stays on. Will see how long that lasts.
For the Sky Remote - am using SimpleSet and that still allows me to control the volume on the TV.

You could try a couple of brands of the cheep Voice TV remotes without a bluetooth adapter available on Wish, AliExpress, or Amazon.

Let us know how you get on. If the button's don't quite work right you can always use the Button Mapper App to remap them.

I think that one interacts with the UK Sky Box to setup the remote to work with the correct brand of TV.

Here's another one on Amazon which should work:

Universal Voice Remote Control,Support Bluetooth Connection,Voice Research,Air Mouse, for Android Tv Box and Media Player (G20S PRO BT)

Check with the supplier first though to make sure it works with Android 11.

Hey all - I have a largish (~15) collection of Vodafone TV Bluetooth remotes that work with the Sky boxes (and as a bonus, can IR control TV's). The button mapping is not perfect from what I am told though but it does still work well enough.

If anyone does want some I am happy to let them go for the price of shipping. Just fire me a DM.

Using the Vodafone remote with the Button Mapper App The Menu Button can be mapped to Home. and the red button can be mapped to up to 3 Apps (using press, double press, and long press) as can the blue button. The Green and Yellow button I believe map to Planner and Guide Respectively and can also be mapped to two additional apps or actions each. The exit button and the microphone button don't work at present but hopefully Sky will add additional support for Vodafone Microphone Button on the remote in future, like Google has, but I would not hold my breath. No button can be mapped to Live TV but this can be accessed from the Sky Pod Menu using the mapped Menu button, or the Yellow Guide button.

firefuze: Is the Pod only available to VFTV customers that were also subscribed to Sky at the time? I was looking to get the Pod, (Had VFTV but not Sky) I’m sure I remember registering for it before VFTV shutdown but haven’t had any comms since.

I am a VFTV customer who purchased a VFTV but did not subscribe to Sky TV and also had no communications from Sky on ordering. I have purchased a Sky Pod by phoning Sky at 0800 759 190 and I believe you can still order there if you were a VFTV customer and you really want one. However I am looking at returning my Sky Pod due to the poor interface and the lack of TV1, TV2 and Duke channels on the TV Guide.

I have instead as an alternative to the SkyPod setup the Sparkle TV app using Matt Huisman's M3U8 NZ TV Channel Playlist ,on Google TV with Chromecast 4K paired with the Vodafone TV remote which gives the ability to control and view all Freeview channels plus others and timeshift (pause and rewind/fast forward live TV), or record them on a USB drive connected via a USB C Hub, with USB A and Ethernet OTG, or to a SMB share on a Windows machine. This is at a one off cost of about $151 to $187. Rather than a one off fee to Sky of $100 plus $25 per month. The only disadvantage to this option is not being able to replay some programs for up to 72 hours from a guide however TVNZ+ and TV3 Apps allow replay of most programs and Sparkle TV provides the ability to record all non Sky only programs. Google TV also has the ability of installing these apps: TVNZ+, Three Now, Disney+, Neon, You Tube, Spotify, Sky Sport Now, and Prime Video amongst others and comes with You Tube and Apple TV, plus the Netflix App which is available on the SkyPod. Note: Apple TV is not available on the Sky Pod even to add.

I have also used the Button Mapper App to map the four colured buttons  on the Vodafone TV remote to up to three commonly used Apps per button, including Sparkle TV, and the menu button to the Home Action, giving a better remote than the Sky Pod's remote, or the Google TV remote.

I have given Sky over a month to add TVNZ 1, TVNZ 2, and Duke to their Guide but I believe it is now time to take a stand, due to their inability to meet the requirements of the consumer guarantees act and provide the channels in the Guide that they advertised Sky Pod provided through Sky Starter, when I ordered my Sky Pod.

The only plus I can see to the Sky Pod is the ability to view Sky Channels including Sky Sport and replay some programs for up to 72 hours from the Sky TV Guide, but Sky Sport is available on Google TV via the Sky  Sport Now app at a subscription when required. Sky would have been better off creating a Sky Channels App for Android including Google TV rather than coming out with the Sky Pod although it is better than the Sky Box due to lack of rain fade or Sky Box User Interface and recording problems, except for the lack of ability to record Sky channels although this may be able to be provided for non Sky channels by installing the Sparkle TV app on the Sky Pod.

I really don't see why you are holding Sky responsible for TVNZ withdrawing their channels, when it has been in the news why TVNZ did that.

The Sky box doesn't truly go off, it goes to standby, so you won't miss your recordings.

Okay, so I have just finished reading all 82 pages. I received the new Sky box back in April and was looking forward to it - I always love shiny new things.  What a complete disappointment! I have not had a lot of the technical faults mentioned here, but the user interface is a nightmare. I have frequently deleted programmes that I wanted to keep because it bounces back to the first on the list after pressing delete, or I delete a whole bunch (because series link has recorded every possible variation) and then I forget that I haven’t exited delete mode and press the centre button to watch the one episode that I kept, only to have it deleted in front of my eyes. My fault I know, but easy to do.  I also miss remote record which I used all the time. No slow motion so how can I confirm the referee’s bias or incompetency anymore? It is hard to tell which of the thumbnails have new episodes without moving the cursor to them. I have to be very careful when using the cursor control to not stray off to an adjacent button etc.

i do this all the time and one last thing it does that really annoys me  is the recorded program going back to the start for no reason so that the IPL match i am 2 hours in restarts and i have to fast forward 2 hours to get back to where i was.

Yes I had the same thing with a Super Rugby game in the weekend. When fast forwarding the images fail to keep up, so it is almost impossible to tell how far you have gone. Another annoyance is, if you pause it throws a large graphic over the screen and dims the image. Sometimes I have paused to look at something in detail, maybe I shouldn’t be such a couch TMO.

I have to say that the picture quality seems quite a lot better. I guess what would help me, would be if Sky posted what features they have in development and what are going to be impossible with the new tech they are using. For example slow motion is a show stopper (haha) for me. If it can never be introduced for technical reasons then I would go back to the old tech today. If it’s on the roadmap then I will persevere with the new Sky Box. I understand that some development needs to come after the release of a product in order to get the product out, but to fail to deliver existing features from the old Sky box is definitely a backwards step. I think it’s time to email Sky Help and see if I can get some answers.

And so you can power it on with the Sky Pod or other paired remote.
