This has been a great thread to be following on these devices - positives or negatives - lots to learn.
Thats the whole purpose of these forums!

Not sure why he felt there was a need to start being disrespectful to others.
Thanks for moderating - @freitasm

I think he was a spy from Sky!! then the dogs were let go!!

I don't mind the box and was happy to upgrade but feel a little disappointed by what is lacking, on release. It has been a learning curve for sure and hopefully the upcoming update will sort out most of our issues. I wish them well.

Okay, so I have just finished reading all 82 pages. I received the new Sky box back in April and was looking forward to it - I always love shiny new things.  What a complete disappointment! I have not had a lot of the technical faults mentioned here, but the user interface is a nightmare. I have frequently deleted programmes that I wanted to keep because it bounces back to the first on the list after pressing delete, or I delete a whole bunch (because series link has recorded every possible variation) and then I forget that I haven’t exited delete mode and press the centre button to watch the one episode that I kept, only to have it deleted in front of my eyes. My fault I know, but easy to do.  I also miss remote record which I used all the time. No slow motion so how can I confirm the referee’s bias or incompetency anymore? It is hard to tell which of the thumbnails have new episodes without moving the cursor to them. I have to be very careful when using the cursor control to not stray off to an adjacent button etc.

Can anyone tell me please whether updates received since this posting have resolved some / all of the above problems?

I have until 30 June to take up a special offer for the new box, so, what's the current advice, wait a few more weeks or get started now with the new box? Thanks for your help.

This is a retail device being sold to customers it is not a beta device. Selling a device that is "work in progress" without clear notification that this seems to be the case is not good and probably  contrary to consumer protection law. Do you buy a TV, Car, Watch etc as work in progress? no you don't. This product is clearly not being sold free of defects as prescribed in the Consumer Guarantees Act and therefore seem be in breach of consumer protection law.

You ask whether you buy a TV, car, watch etc that is "work in progress"? I agree that you shouldn't have to do this, but these items often have updates coming through for several months after they have been introduced here. I think it all comes down to how well you research a new product before you buy it and how serious the problems are. I know people who have bought EVs knowing there are several unresolved problems, but eventually they get sorted. So, how serious are the problems with the Sky box? Are they serious enough to defer buying one?

While there have been a few updates, I feel the box has become a lot more stable especially with the latest platform update which came through earlier in the week. From a UX perspective - there are still issues. I say issues as opposed to usability since there is a change aspect that needs to be considered. Yes there delete workflow is totally different - you were able to rapidly delete thing before - that is not the case anymore. You need to be careful around deleting etc.

Issues I mention are things like doing something which will cause the launcher to crash and then you have to wait for it to reload completely. These are bugs.

Ultimately it comes down to how much change you would like to put up with. Its different and the UX is painful and slow in several parts. Features or not - requires time for refinement.

Thanks for your helpful reply. Overall, I find the existing Sky box does all that I need and has sufficient capacity. Some of the features on the new box sound good, but I think I'll wait until it's further refined, even if this means that I'll miss out on the special introductory offer price of $50.

You still have to the end of June, hopefully by then there will be many changes to Sky and the Sky Box, they will be posted here so keep checking the fourm for updates.

Sky are starting a formal feedback group for the Sky Pod, email went out today. Be a good chance to provide some feedback to hopefully improve the device experience.

Just the Pod, not the box?

Does anyone know how to stop the Sky Box from going into standby?

Why would you want it to do this?
Genuine question, I've never had a problem with the new box "going into standby" and I'm wondering what the issue is
