Looking to buy a Samsung F480 for new XT network. Can most F480's be used/unlocked to work on Xt network or are the XT 480's a different version?

the XT 480 models are WCDMA 850/2100 Mhz.

The other models available are 900/2100 Mhz

If you want to use an 480 on XT, make sure you get the 850/2100 version. No matter of unlocking on an 900/2100 will make it work on XT, as the radio frequencies are in the hardware.

In saying that, you can use a 900/2100 version on XT, on the 2100 band, however this isnt recommended as 2100 XT is only at the moment in the main centres. The 850 Mhz coverage is comprehensive though.

All the Telecom XT handsets will work on 2Degrees. 2Degrees is currently a GSM network. All the XT handsets will do quad or tri band GSM (for vodafone and 2degrees) and wcdma 850 (telecom 3g) and wcdma 2100 (vodafone 3g)
