I got my confirmation call on Tuesday I think and I am not a moderator. They just confirmed a few things about my setup at home then said congrats somebody will be in touch on Friday or Monday to confirm the details for sending out your box.

Did they tell you if you get to keep the box for free at the end of the trial

*edited to be clearer* :)

They didn't say and I didn't ask. I would surprised if they requested it back at the end unless they changed the box etc.

I asked about keeping the boxes - they're quite strong about the testers (me) sending it back after the test is over. Maybe we get them at a discounted price because of our time testing??? Hope so.

Well, since they haven't said anything I assume "No".

Cancel that.

I am out of the beta. After some of the required steps I got an email today saying they don't actually have enough devices to everyone so I am out of the beta. But thanks for the interest and please keep reading our newsletter...

Needless to say I am not impressed and they may have lost a customer before they even started.

I wouldn't be too worried if I wasn't part of the beta. But the process had already started. I was contacted by phone, had emails sent, confirmed requirements, received a device serial number, created an account, registered the device, filled their online surveys, etc, etc...

So, no I am not happy. I hope they treat their future paying customers better.

How do you oversubscribe on devices? Especially with such a lengthy beta process?! That's crazy.

Plus, where did they get this magical serial number from if it wasn't on the device they were intending to send you?!

Almost sounds like something fishy is going on... was this Beta selection process open to anyone, or did they seek you out? If the prior, then maybe they were scared by your position in the industry and the amount of people that listen to you regarding technology?

People registered interest through their site, and they then called people to confirm the requirements.

Yet there is still a "Get it first: Test for TiVo" button on the site. Hopeless, really.

I got the same email today after all the phone calls and email rather disappointed. Maybe they did not like us commenting on geekzone about taking paart in the pilot, I did however stop commenting once I signed the NDA.

Why is it so damn hard for people to use the MHEG 5 Data,

I mean we have had both Panasonic and Tivo come along promising a great HD freeview experience, multiple tuners, yada yada yada, and both fail on what should be the most basic of features the 7 day MHEG EPG. no wonder Myskys seem to be invading living rooms everywhere.
