I would be VERY surprised to see the basic TiVo box debut > $999 incl GST. Even that is a $100 premium over Aussie at current exchange rates.

What makes you say that? Looking at the new Panasonic PVRs some of them will be cheaper in NZ.

I'd expect about 899/999 NZ$ initially, but who knows what may change in the next 3-4 months.
