Hi All

I have been following this forum with great interest as tivos have been our way of life for what seems forever. We have six of them and are feeling as if there has been a death in the family. We bought a Panasonic but are thoroughly disappointed with it.  I need a price to mod and set them up but have a problem -four have been in constant use so are running the latest firmware but the other two have been kept in reserve and are running 11.3b5-01-2-663 and 11.3-01-2-663.

Is there a sticky page/post that lists the steps required and what the programming will look like?

I would hate to lose any saved programs. We are in Mt Roskill Auckland.

Cheers

Its time for me to pop my head out of my burrow again and let people know I'm still here.

I'm modding TiVos in the Wellington area and I will be able to take more on from this coming Monday onwards. The drop-off location is in Lower Hutt.

I can also send out pre-programmed PROMs and sockets to those who are up to the soldering challenge. I have oodles of PROMs now ready to go, not so many sockets just at the moment but heaps more are due Tuesday.

Please PM me if interested, thanks!

I've sent you a PM with the details you require. There's little difference between the old and the new guides of significance. Darren King's "Dr Tivo" page is a good place to start if you want to know more:

http://kingey1971.wixsite.com/tivorepairs/buying-a-tivo

Those 2x units with very old software can be dealt with as long as you don't have any recordings you need to keep on them. I know what you mean about the Panasonic. I've modified close to 80x Tivos so far, and many belong to disillusioned owners of  Panasonic and Dish units. They're so pleased to get their old friends back with a new lease of life. There can't be many consumer products with a better satisfaction rating than the Tivo.

There have been quite a few people asking who and where can the mods be done by.
What about someone starting a (clearly labelled) thread with nothing but a list of "modders"?

No, the firmware detects that the drive belongs to another tivo with a different serial number and ask to re-initialise the HDD

Hello.

Having a problem with the networking.

My PC see's the Tivo and can list the programs, also can tag the programs.

But when I go to transfer (from pc to tivo or tivo to Pc) it will error says file not found.

Windows 10 , Tivo chipped and on same network, TivoDesktop 2.8, All paths are correct

Any Ideas why the error ??

I Tag the file, Agree to the Transfer warning, Transfer starts and then errors out

"The System cannot find the file specified.

Thanks

Tomo

Have you used this exact same setup prior to 31st October? Also, have you tried started Tivo Desktop as an elevated Administrator? Right-click the shortcut, and choose "Run as Administrator"?

Have you tried using the very good java app "kmttg"  to transfer recordings to your PC? All of this assumes you have the Home Networking package and the MAK is still installed?

Mine is working 'business as usual' with Windows 7. Can you try on another non Windows 10 PC? I have HNP on 3 Tivos and desktop app on Windows 7 PC.

Speaking of which...I could try on my Windows 10 PC (and confirm/deny it is  potential problem for you) but how do I move and 'run' the Tivo files for the Desktop App of the desktop on this PC or is it not possible?

If you do a 'Clear and Delete All' on the recipient TiVo then it works (but obviously you then need to run through Guided Setup).

Hello.

Same setup, But havent copied anything from the tivo since i recorded "The Kick, Stephen Donald story" so you never know what happened since then.

HNP and MAK still there.

Will try when I get home.
