Hi All

Just unpacked my backup Tivo that was in storage for a few years during house renovations and will be looking to bring it to life over the weekend to confirm that it still is a viable backup.

I am unsure if I had the firmware updated to 11.3b8.x.x.x prior to putting into storage.

Am I likely to have issues getting new firmware pushed out if the Tivo is still on the earlier version?

Who do we go to now as no sign of Dan Hybrid...or is Spark supporting better nowdays?

Cheers

You should have no problems. If it is on the earlier 3b5 software it will update itself to 3b8 during the first few days during it's scheduled check in's when "ET phones home"

Was academic in the end as the unit on powering up could not get past the "welcome" screen, and then after I removed the cover to check power supply....did not even get to the welcome screen.  From multiple sites I take it that this is the power supply.

May try getting  second hand tivo and swapping power supply board if price right as not worth getting new power supply and possibly HDD for a backup unit.

Was the green light blinking? One of ours has to have a hairdryer applied to heat one of the RAM chips before the TiVo is powered on. I could replace the RAM, but seeing as power is only interrupted very occasionally it hasn't seemed worth the effort.

I had repackaged Tivo and could not remember.  Will check if I need to try and resurrect.
