I have recently been finding the Live TV button stops working after a while, and only brings up the Guide and Info screens instead of switching tuners.  A reboot of the TiVo solves the problem for a while, but only for a day or two at best.

Is anybody else experiencing this problem?

See if it works while you're pausing live TV

Edit: or while recording with at least one tuner. Doesn't work to switch between tuners for me unless one of the above is true. Like you have experienced, I belive it worked for a short time after a reboot, but not positive on that one.

There is no difference when it recording with either or both tuners, or when pausing live TV.  The only way I've found to switch tuners is to use the Info screen menu.  I've sent an equiry to TiVo support and will report back what I found out.

What remotes do you use with your TiVo?

I have been using a Logitech 785 with mine, and I have found forum postings elsewhere which suggest that Logitech might have codes for an older TiVo remote which does not have separate Guide and Live TV codes.  In order to resolve the issue one needs to program the TiVo button from the supplied remote.

I haven't had a chance to test this yet, but will report back once I have.

TiVo support have suggested I do a factory reset, but I'm loath to do this as we have a lot of settings that I don't want to lose.

As it happens, I'm actually using the 785 as well. However I get the same result using either the 785 or the supplied TiVo remote.

After some playing around I have confirmed that:

  • The problem is only occurring after I have been using the Logitech remote for a while;

  • Once the problem starts, it is the same whether I use the Logitech or TiVo original remote;

  • The problem can be resolved temporarily by using the TiVo remote and clicking;

    1. TiVo button

    2. Live TV button

This seems to reset the TiVo to expect the new TiVo remote codes.  The next step will be to programme the Logitech remote with the TiVo button codes from the original remote.  Apparently this may need to be done using RAW mode.

Thanks for the info Andrew. This afternoon I reprogrammed the ir for the two commands on the 785 just using the normal learning method. So far it seems to work correctly on both remotes with no sign of the Guide unless I actually use the guide button. Will keep an eye on it.

Cheers!
