After you do regain access to your garage consider

OpenGarage: an Open-Source WiFi Garage Door Opener

https://rayshobby.net/wordpress/introducing-opengarage/

I have had mine for at least a year now and love it. Not very expensive either.

kiwijunglist:

We can't find our spare remote and this one is locked inside the roller door garage. The only way in and out of the garage is through the automatic door. I think these openers have dip switches inside to select the code, so I presume that if I can borrow a remote from someone then I can get into my garage without breaking a window.

Unless someone has some other ideas.

It'll almost certainly use a Princeton 2262 encoder, those things are tri-state but no-one ever wires them up that way so you've got at most 256 combos to go through, 128 on average. You can also get scanners that brute-force them from China, the chips don't implement any kind of lockout so it should only take a few seconds. Depends on how long you want to wait to get the scanner in the post.

Or you could also Shifty Bob down the local pub whether he can help you get in...
