It's been an age and a half since I posted any of my projects. This outdoor furniture has been a major project over the last year (literally the last year) but it is done and *super* pleased with it:

Made out of garden retaining timber and sleepers, planed down to a nice smooth finish, shaped, glued, assembled and stained. Table measures 2.2 x 1.2 m (huge!). We can get 8 people around it even with the waterfall design.

Legs and rails are all mortised and tenoned, and the planks tongue and grooved assembly:

There are no metal fastenings at all in the benches, all glue and shaped wood. The table is the same but I didn't quite trust my design and wanted make sure I could add some additional diagonal bracing in the future if needed (though it doesn't seem to be required). The table has about 30 screws in it total, all hidden underneath on the cross braces.

Timber is cheap Bunnings red cedar (garden retaining grade), with a reddish "teak" stain. Unfinished versus one coat:

It’s not made out of MDF?

Looks great - how did you join the lengths? Dowels or biscuits?

Ge0rge: Built a DIY UPS with some bits left over from another project.

CTEK happily tends the batteries, pure sine inverter puts out 600VA and the equipment downstream is none the wiser.

It does need some covers for the terminals and perhaps the ctek terminated permanently - as well as an RPi perhaps to watch the battery voltages and report to NUTS to shut things down if the voltage gets too low. Future projects!

Edit - new phone likes to turn images after they've been taken, still haven't got that sorted yet- apologies.

FYI: If you load pic on W10 then view file with explorer you can right click image and rotate image left or right.

The neighbour's cats would soon discover the route out the window and over the fence.

Nice work. Good to see a built in exercise regime to get back inside. None of this low cat door close to the ground stuff that most people pamper cats with.

I just helped a lady at the community workshop build a cat playground with platforms on poles.. top pole is a sleeping box. It's interesting watching the cats monopolizing walkways stopping other cats going places.
