Here's a shed I recently finished building. One of those pre-manufactured jobbies you put together yourself, and I literally did just that.

Nice work. I have a 9m^2 shed in boxes in the garage awaiting construction. But some idiot didn't manage to get bags of cement before lockdown, so it will have to wait.

I'm just using some battery powered LED lights I bought at M10 called a Blazing LED Jumbo Light Switch.

I have them in the boat on the underside of seats with storage underneath. I bought 4 as they were cheap and I thought they would have reduced life expectancy in marine application. They've surprised me by lasting a few years, so I'm going to use the spares in the new shed.

I'm sure they would be OK in garden shed.

Thanks MikeAqua for the LED lights recommendation, I'll take a look at those online :-)

Dratsab: My 'DIY' from yesterday. A reboot of a bordered area in the front garden which got put on hold last year for various reasons. Plenty more work to go on this as the wooden edging I'm putting in will need to be cut in various places to cater for underground pipes.

Wooden edging? Tell me more. I will be doing that in Spring. Raised that here, once got negative feedback (warping) but Ive got a plan. I'll elaborate when have time, but looking at 4x1 or 5x1 that will be topsoil height, not raised

In my previous post about my shed, the second and third photo's show the edging I'll be using on the bottom shelf of longer shelving units. 300mm depth, 5m rolls. All three are now down in the lower carport waiting to be put in the ground. I've got wooden stakes to help hold it all in place. I need to re-dig the trenching but I'll have to redo the string lines first to get the right height. The garden slopes from right to left in reagrds to pics I've posted so there'll be a lot more edging showing on the lefthand side, as I want it level(ish).

Keep an eye on condensation forming on the underside of the roof in winter too.

If there's power to the shed, can't really tell from the photos but there's various corded tools hanging on the wall there, consider a small fan on a timer to change the air for an hour a day during winter whenever the dew point is most optimal.

If you're in Auckland, I've got about five bags you could have. Been under a tarp for awhile so they're a bit solid but you just need to crunch up the contents and they should be fine, used one a few months ago.

Edited to add: Sorry, that's premixed concrete, not cement, depending on which you were after.

It started early January when a weather event knocked down part of a fairly large tree, which damaged the already stuffed 40m fence we share with our neighbors.

About five weeks prior to level 4 we tore it down to replace it. It was supposed to be a job completed over many weekends.

Next job was to remove the tree that started it all, and another that had grown too big and had our incoming power through it. Half a day with a cherry picker and 3 blokes, we had them sorted. (Arborist quoted for 3 arborists and a laborer for a full day to do the same job)

I split the wood from the cut down trees and got around 4.5 m³ of firewood.
We got a chipper and chipped everything we cut down and anything else in sight. We hooked the ute to a few small stumps and removed them. And we did loads of tidyup work along the fenceline.

Then the lockdown came and we had no way of separating our families.
We managed to get everything we needed for the build in the 2 days prior to lockdown. So that has been our priority since.

We spent days digging the 17 post holes, some through tree roots and concrete from the old posts. One hole took 2 of us about 2 hours, and involved digging a huge hole to remove a small hardwood stump and several large tree roots.

We didn't manage to get a concrete mixer, so mixed the concrete with a shovel in a wheelbarrow

Yesterday we fired about 2500 nails attaching the palings and the fence is complete.

All that's left to do is trim it to height. We'll do that when we can get a long straight edge and the fence is dry. Final height will be 150mm off the top rail, or 1600mm total (average)

Edit: try to add images again...

Normally this is the sort of project that I'd bury at midnight in a shallow grave next to the motorway, but in this case the cowboy construction is justified because it was almost all done at level 4 with whatever was available, only the long runs of clear polythene, not visible in the photos, were obtained at the end, at level 3.

The problem was that the lockdown interrupted the earthworks at the Casa de Cowboy, which meant that the house is sitting on top of a pile of dug-out clay with not much holding it up, and when it rains the water goes straight onto/into the unsupported wall of clay. So the plan was to divert as much water flow to the side of the house as possible rather than having it go into the clay. Everything here is cannibalised:

neb: Nice! One possible concern, how damp will it get under those trees? Looks like you might have to be careful with rust on the tools...

Nice also just in process if building a duratuf shed

+1 for creativity and imagination. -9 for aesthetics but +9 for supervisors.

Nice shed. I have become more appreciative of a good shed as I've got older.

But errr, from the pics, is there anything anchoring the shed to the ground?
