My new favourite light bulb is Philips 13W 1000lm at $25 from Pack-n-Save and $24 from Bunnings. Very nice colour (tested warm white). It is longer and narrower than ViriBright 8W, to fit into narrow down light fittings. But it does state not to be used in enclosed fittings.

You can never have enough Volvos!

Sorry guys, I've sold it to a friend at work as I currently still need ViriBright which is fatter and closes the hole to the ceiling (until I source the covers for my Home Downlight fittings). But I first saw it at Pack-'n-Save Sylvia Park about 1-2 weeks ago, then Saturday I saw it at Bunnings Mt Wellington (Auckland). Presumably it will be available nation wide, if not now then in the next couple of weeks.

The only thing that worried me is both cold and warm white have the same wattage and intensity listed.

Official retailers for the 13W Philips bulbs are Bunnings and Lighting Direct (bottom of Philips web site - where to buy).

My issue is that every time I have been to a Bunnings in the last 3 months looking for a Philips LED light, they have heaps in B22 and absolutely none in E27. Was just in Mt. Wellington Bunnings on Saturday looking for a Philips 10w LED and they had not a single E27 bulb.

The problem I have with supermarkets is they seem to only stock the warm white ones. Or else warm white and daylight in the panasonic CFLs at countdown. none seem to do the 4000K ones which is where IMO you really want to be.

Lighting Direct don't seem to list them on their website (hard to be 100% sure, the website is crap).

They might have had the 13W in E27, but nothing else in E27. The 13W looks good, but it's too bright for my internal light requirements. I have a Philips MyVision 9.5w which I'm really pleased with...can't find them anymore and I was hoping to get the 10w versions. I asked them when they would get them in and they say they have never had any stock yet, even though they put the tags on the shelfs for where they are supposed to have them.

Nor do Bunnings (Christchurch). I asked if Philips made neutral white CFLs and the staff member said 'yes, but we don't stock them'.

Don't ask floor staff, go to the trade counter and give them a manufacturer's part number to order you a qty. Also don't knock a warm white bulb until you have asked floor staff to demo it for you, there is no scientific definition for warm white and the CRI makes a huge difference to the perceived colour.

went to Countdown Papamoa and heaps of LED bulbs but highest was 60watt equivalent. Went across road to Pak N Save and no LED bulbs at all. Went next door to Mitre 10 and same story no LED at all. All 3 had energy saver but dont want those with mercury in them so looks like have to wait a while yet for the 75 watt equivalent to arrive

Just stopped in there and they had some 5w, 8w and a couple of 13w E27 warm white bulbs.

However, none of the elusive 10w Philips LED E27 warm white bulbs. Drats.....
