you won't regret it.

The heaters in my daughters' bedrooms were using around 7kw per night set at around 3 on the dial but if it was a warm night it would be like 23C in the morning.
We'd find that running it lower (at 2 on the dial) the room didn't heat up properly and it would be 15C/16C in the morning and all the condensation problems back - no real way to control.

With these they are using between 1 and 4kw per night - not only is the room a consistent temperature but we are saving $1-$2 per night in power (30c/kw) - they have already paid for themselves in the month I've had them. Another benefit is that when one of them forgets to turn off the heater before going to school, they are not consuming power all day as the room temperature is above the thermostat temperature because of the sun.

One tip! When I first installed them they were complaining that their bedrooms were cold when they went to bed - that's because setting the unit at 17C the temperature was already around 17C so no heat and reduced comfort. What we do now is set the unit at 2-3C above the current temperature about 1 hour before bedtime so it's warm for getting into bed, and then turning them back down to 17C over night. It adds 1 or 2kw to the consumption but everyone is happy.

Procrastination eventually pays off.

17C, that is tough!

We use it with 22C set as a target degree (though wall socket is near the ceiling which is as we all know usually warmer than near the floor) and 1 on the dial (which equals to 800W of power). With this setting it consumes less than 2kW*h per night (13c/kW*h in genesis, night rate)

Oh and one more note: the thermostat on a heater is set to a position which turns off the heater when it heated "too much", which basically leads to a smoother room warming up without going to far from the desired temperature (due to cooling down inertia)

Nah, 17C is 1 degree above WHO and ministry guidelines and mostly it's fine - our bedroom is set lower at 16C. The real temperature in the room actually hovers around the 17-18C. I'm sure I've read that too high is also bad for health (and your pocket). If the room is occupied, i.e. not while sleeping, then 18-20C is where the thermostats are set but to be honest we spend most of the time downstairs in the lounge or family rooms where there are heat pumps at 18C.

I used to work for a company that designed central heating systems (in the UK) and we sized the radiators to produce 18 in living areas, 17 in bedrooms and 21 in the bathroom (nice!). But that works for me and my family - everyone's comfort level is different. I grew up in a council house in Manchester without any heating upstairs and no money for heaters! I had thick ice on the inside of the window through condensation - I wouldn't put my kids through that, but they are not molly-coddled either. Getting them ready for student life I guess!

We set our heat pumps to 20 - 22 degrees, usually around 21. The heatermate in the bedroom is set to 18 degrees usually, I've found it being too warm hurts sleep quality.

UPD: I just confused the numbers here. Must read as

19C means that it will turn itself at 18C and turn off at 19C (if the heating mode is set up) and that is what I observe with mine

The white paper says it will heat to the set temperature and turn itself off. It will turn itself on again when the temperature drops 1c below the set temperature.

This means it will turn itself on again at 18c, not at 19c. The paper says it turns itself off at 19c but my experience shows it turns of at 20c - 1c below for on and 1c above for off.
