Last week:

126.76kWh @ 7.1569 c/kWh - $9.07
Network Charge - Low User All Inclusive - 126.76kWh, 9.29c/kWh - $11.78
Network Daily Charge - Low User - 7 Days, 15c/day - $1.05
Metering - Fixed daily charge - 7 Days, 15c/day - $1.05
Flick Access Charge Low User - $0.00
Flick Varable Charge Low User Wellington - $126.76kWh, 3.75c/kWh - $4.75
EA Levy - $0.14
Total - $32.34 (with the 1% credit card surcharge).

To consider is that the last two weeks, Huntly 5 (e3p) has been on it's yearly maintenance cycle so without that prices have been elevated.

Based on your total (assuming inc GST), including daily charges Flick has been $0.255 / kwh, Electric Kiwi $0.216 / kwh. This takes into account that we make good use of the free hour of power, though less than we were in the middle of winter.

For reference, here's my usage / bill for November to date - all inc GST

Electricity charges - 408 kWh @ $0.18/kWh = $73.44
Hour of Power Savings 70.02 kWh FREE! $0.00
Supply charges 16 days $1.88/day $30.08
Total $103.52

If it wasn't for the free hour of power I'd have paid $0.2427 / kwh, still cheaper than Flick.

Based on this EK is looking like the best option right now. If prices come down in the middle of summer there might be some savings, but I have to guess the difference won't be massive.

You never know what's going to happen with the grid, power stations, etc, that's why having a flat rate is useful. Someone else takes the risk, and gets a small reward if things go their way.

Thats an excellent rate. Im paying 24c/kWh with ElectricKiwi. How did you get that rate?

I still havent been transferred to Flick after 3 weeks, maybe I should just flag it and stick with EK

That is including everything. It's a "bill price / number of kWh consumed"

I just applied the regular way back when Flick got expensive. Sounds like you're on low user rates, I'm on standard rates.

I checked, and given we paid for 400kw of power in Nov, not founding free hour of power, the standard plan is better for us.

I tried my address in Lower Hutt - I think that timmmay lives here too - and Electric Kiwi says 188 cents a day and 18 cents a kilowatt hour inclusive of GST. Incidentally, these are the same numbers that Powerswitch uses for Electric Kiwi at my address.

When I did the math with Genesis, at a $90 power bill it as equal. Incl GST and daily charges, not including free hour of power. I could change. BUT, we have two heat pumps. Our hour of power is 9pm to 10pm. I could change that to 4pm to 5pm. Still do dishwasher and washing machine, but also both heat pumps on cool cycle. As well as the free hour of power we can back off heatpumps on cool in the evening. More savings

Sorry - I got you confused with another member.

But you could tell us whether you are in an suburb covered by the defunct Hutt- Energy Board: Hutt, Porirua and Wellington North (Newlands, Johnsonville and Tawa)? That might explain the difference.

Wonder if it'll be cheaper with Flick now... we're paying 0.27 per kWh with Electric Kiwi (with GST) here in Chch, low user. Friend in Whangaparaoa only pays 0.18 :( Why is it much dearer in Chch
