Saw a reddit post on this but surprisingly no major announcement in regards to this latest round of price increases.

I wonder how this will impact Spark's continuation of 'free Netflix' bundling with broadband plans

Basic $14.99 > $17.99

Standard $20.99 > $25.99

Premium $27.99 > $33.99

The cost for an extra member has also gone up from $7.99 > $9.99

I'm inching closer to cancelling Netflix too. Have to start thinking strategically about shows I have on the go and whether they're worth what we're paying right now.

As the aggregate cost of streamers goes up, and the cost of living also goes up, and incomes don't go up - people will start making tough choices. At the end of the day streaming services are more of a luxury than a need, so they will be culled off as a cost reduction measure at some point (at the very least, more will go to fewer-subs-at-a-time).

Just had a look on my change plan page which is due to renew on 6 April.

I see in EU Netflix is one of the preferred US companies people are dropping in response to the economic genius.

Edit: Apart from some anon poster on Reddit, no sign anywhere that the prices are going up $6?

Not showing on my "change plan" page either... however, in an incognito window (so no session) and checking the "How much does Netflix cost?" on their home page:

>21% increase on Premium is nasty.

Weird how it doesn't show for you. I wonder if you receive the discounted rate for a little while longer and the new rate applies to new customers?

Here's the link to the pricing on their site

I explained that: Used an incognito window. Went to their home page and used the FAQ there. Then grabbed the screenshot.

Nothing clever 😀

and ironically I just got an email from NF entitled The Lookahead.. Strangely doesn't seem to mention I can lookahead to a 5 times the rate of inflation price increase.

The thing with Netflix and any other streaming service is they're supposed to be more convenient than Piracy and I think they're forgetting this key fact about their business model.

The business model that said you can watch (almost) anything you want whenever you want without interruptions ?

And here is a screenshot confirming price increase are correct from above link.

All I can say is wow. Had it on for two to three months a year to keep play list, may treat it like it doesn’t exist now.

My Auntie pays an extra $5 a month to Spark on the fixed mobile internet plan, be interesting to see what happens to prices there and the other Netflix included plans.

Yep, this will push more people to piracy.

We watch so few FTA: Chase, News, Bake off, Extra Slice, TNZ+ cricket, 1% club, TaskMaster UK.

Our 3 mths free Apple TV is ending in a couple of weeks, so rushing to finishing Slow Horse's.

And yes we do acquire shows by paying for one month here and one month there, then cancelling after binging on the one show and that is how we try and work the streaming subscription system. If we were to subscribe to all the services for just the few or so shows we would like to watch, we would be broke.

Whilst the difficult we can do immediately, the impossible takes a bit longer. However, miracles you will have to wait for.
