You can drag it back to the start of the game while the game is on. It just goes straight to live when you click on it so you'd have to avert your eyes from the score if you don't want to see it.

I'm guessing that doesn't work on the iOS apps? Tried it with the England game on my phone and it couldn't be dragged. iPad is my only viable option.

Ah no. the only way would be to keep clicking on the rewind 30 second button but that would take ages.

I am finding the option to watch on the iPad on a Sun/Mon morning quite appealing. I've had no issue with buffering etc, it seems to run well. I am however frustrated why there is no 'fast-forward' button like there is when viewed on the browser.

I asked them last week and received this response via Twitter 'think that's in the notes to the developers. Not quite sure why it's not there'

I have watched Spurs's 4 games as follows...(FYI - I've watched no other games at all)

Live using HDMI hookup to TV
Delayed on Laptop
Delayed on iPad
Depayed on iPad

I used to get up and watch in the lounge on a Sun/Mon morning around 0630 and as my boys woke would join me and we'd watch together, so that's one of the things that has disappeared since PLP snapped up the rights. I could fix that by attaching the laptop etc to the TV but again just more of a hassle.

I'd also got used to watching a 90min game in 60mins or so as I'd fast forward through parts. With PLP I tend to watch the whole game mainly due to lack of easy fast-forward options I think. Although I have downloaded a free app for the iPhone which allows me to use the iPhone as a remote control for the Laptop so I can control the system from the couch which worked well for the only game I have watched via the TV.

I think I'm in the 'would prefer SKY had the rights' camp, I remain unimpessed with the picture quality, for me it's "ok". Nothing like the HD SKY Broadcast on a 42" HDTV, but the ability to watch on the iPad is a good feature. Although that is something SKY are bringing to market later this year (apparently).

The whole PLP thing from Day One (and it continues to be) has always appeared somewhat amateurish from misleading information on their site, the lack of apps for kickoff, to the at times condescending tone from the person(s) runnning their Twitter account.

PLP give the impression of a team of 4-5 Generation Y types kicking around in a trendy warehouse come office trying to be hip and cool.

I am fortunate I won a free season pass, but they'd do well to remember people pay for this service and expect a professional response.

I belong to a large football club in Ch-Ch and I'm amazed at how few people have signed up for PLP. Die hard football fans in the older generation find this all too difficult and make do with SKY and their Spurs TV/Arsenal TV etc.

Bottom line, I dislike the picture quality but like the iPad app! And arent fussed by the ability to watch when I want...

Actually now feeling sick from the terrible choppyness of the stream quality and with a UFB connection it sure as sht isn't an issue from my end. Might call on Monday and cancel my subscription and go through other means. Waste of money and time.

I awoke at 02.55 to watch one of the most important matches in the season only to find that it didn't work. I did a speedtest which was okay, tested isky, tvnz etc etc and all were working. Finally it started to work 15 minutes into the game.

Simply not good enough. I don't want to miss any of the match and I have paid for this service as I wasn't lucky enough to get a free pass.

I also blame them for the result!

yeah it did not work on my ipad this morning either. and i quikly jump up from bed and rush into my study room and watched the game on desktop, the quality was fine.
fortunately it was not a winter night.

I watched a couple of games yesterday on iPad and found the quality to vary greatly from unwatchable to excellent...about every 5 minutes!

Was really poor.

Saints vs Liverpool was great quality on the iMac though.

These two clips certainly show a big difference and I first thought it may have been issues with the player rather than delivery of the streams. Using a video bitrate viewer, the recorded stuttering stream has multiple gaps within a second, hence the stutter:

These gaps aren't consistent with the way the streams are delivered with longer time chunks (I believe 2 seconds for PC and 10 seconds for IOS). So why are the gaps there ? You wouldn't expect it in the original source content.

First guess is player or re-recording process but I have now looked at the same time segment from the same game on an iPad 3000 stream and was surprised to see the same panning shot also stuttering. If I look at it with a bit rate viewer I see:

Perhaps of more interest is the detail of the stream which is reported on this viewer and by mediainfo as 25 fps which may be a key element. Perhaps there have been some conversion issues as your video is reporting at 30 fps although the dropbox URL showing 27 fps is also quite strange - was this automatically written? I thought PLP was delivering at 30 fps.

There is so much complexity in delivery of this service I am not surprised there are issues. However, as others haven't commented on this perhaps they haven't noticed and/or the issues have been temporary.
