richms:
I keep looking at sports on TV and just find that the whole thing is lowframerate hard to watch stuff. PC gaming spoils you for fluid motion free of artifacts.
Never noticed, till this frame rate issue. Sport on Sky has always been very good.

The ball zipping around is hideous, you can see the low screen update rate as the ball stutters around. The players also do not seem smooth enough and you can see motion trails on them with their arms etc. This is occurs on my LCD and plasma tvs, via the android TV app or casted from my mobile. Nvidia Shields are wired to my 1gbe network so wireless only an issue for initial stream identification, after which the chrome cast pulls the stream from the wired network.
Im not a soccer fan but before the frame saga happened, I felt soccer was low quality anyway. Same with the Rugby.
Im still seeing what you see, this on ATV4. I get better results with the Panny plasma Intelligent Frame creation on. But the ball motion blur is worse, the rest is better. I had ATV4 set to match frame rate to the source, thats better off, if you have a similar setting. Check F1 and WTA you should see them as better quality overall. The tennis ball is not smooth bit its nit motion blur its on off on off etc. F1, the cars are generally ok, the background is what judders.
Generally static shots where fine on Sky before Spark got the rights however due to the way that a progressive screen is built, a static image will be more detailed if you have the right tv, viewing distance etc. compared to an interlaced image. The issue has been, as well noted, the framerate. Once Spark revert back to 50/60fps then pretty much all our issues will be resolved and the quality will be higher than sky as long as the source material is already progressive @ 60 fps; if the source was interlaced at 25fps then sparks delivery at 1080p/60 won't be much better than 1080i/25 as the material will have been converted and you can't insert new frames that do not exist in the source.
My TVs have no intelligent frame creation so I'm stuck with the non-smooth images across all sparks content; luckly my Sky Sports experience is better for supercars motogp etc.

I have the frame creation on actually. That does help motion blur on balls, but makes the moving people less smooth, annoyingly so.
What I can recall os that F1 was better on Spark Sport, motion was equal. Soccer and Heineken Rugby was low quality already, so dont expect any soccer miracles when the FPS is restored.
Im now watching SkySportNow, flicking between MySky and Apple TV. Very nice image, BUT there is motion blur that is not on Sky Satellite. Often a slow moving golf ball it judders, then comes right.Players close up walking are not smooth. Netball was the same, you can tel its not satellite. When the golf ball sails to the green, the green is full of artifacts for a second or so. I feel that as Spark Sport was with F1, these sports would be better on that then Sky satellite.. I base that on F1 being better on Spark Sport than Sky satellite. Sky streaming is falling short on that. I have the week pass

@hio77 it's fine if you can't answer this for any reason, but was there a list of devices that were the reason behind the original decision to reduce the framerate? Presumably one was the Chromecast original version, were there others? What will happen to those devices as it relates to the SS app?
From experience there are a number of devices which struggle with decrypting and rendering 60fps under DRM, including many smart TVs and Android TV devices.
Benoire:I want it officially on my shield so updates are easier than asking here for the latest APK.
I have Kodi on my Shield with Matt's addon. It works a treat.
Interested to know how did Spark Sport find my mobile number to spam this message... I've checked and there's no phone number field in the profile page (also I don't have an active subscription anyway):

I just got one of those as well, and unsurprisingly mine has the same "stop" response.
Funny enough the stop didn't change my "Communication preferences" on the Spark Sport account. So I unchecked that too.

Deano004: I have a feeling this marketing list has been generated from the time where those interested in spark sport signed up prior to its release and whom wanted to be notified when it was to be released.
I can't remember 100%, but I think there was a phone number field on that form.
Good thinking. But that was for Spark Sport launch, not for other general announcements. Unsubscribed anyway.

I paid for the RWC spark package, so why is it that I am getting offers to buy the RWC spark package from within the IOS spark rugby app?
Surely they should know I already bought it? It makes me believe something has gone wrong with my subscription purchase.
There is no account details link to confirm my subscription is active.
Absolutely horrible video and audio quality for majority of the ABs squad announcement. I really hope this isn't a sign of things to come.
