Wow, that's seriously disappointing that Sony TV's aren't suited to 60FPS, given I expect to be wanting to watch at least half the games in bed which is a Android Sony TV.

Not surprising. The MediaTek CPUs in them are trash. I'm on my 3rd one and resorted to buying a Shield for Android TV. The current one I have is one of the new gen MediaTek CPUs that are much faster but its having issues and I might have to return it again. I may well ask for my money back and get another brand.
Edit: Typo
I know that this will sound like the proverbial "stuck record" but assuming that most people subscribed to this forum are Geeks (at various levels), it is frustrating (to me) that most posters have ignored my suggestions to use Kodi and Matt Huisman's add-on.
It is a cheap and reliable solution which does not exhibit problems even at the lower frame rate.
Kodi can be easily installed on many "STBs" or via LibreELEC on an old PC.
(This will be my last word on the matter)

FYI there's a page with supported 60fps devices:
Somewhat misleading, given the Chromecast 1 and 2 can only do 60fps at 720p..
That list is for highest resolution.

Assumption here isnt quite right.. It's equally possibly the Sony TV simply presents itself in a way that it cant be isolated out for 60fps.

Highest res of what? The 1 and 2 can do 1080, but at 30fps. So highest res that will support 60fps? Doesn't particularly read that way on the link provided, I'd think it should list that it WILL do 60fps, BUT AT 720p.

Is the net result not the same? It would be really useful if Spark could properly communicate to the paying users, so they can get some real clarity around the situation and what devices can be expected to get a good smooth stream and who can't.
Is there a date for the 60FPS switch on?
smelck:Have they taken the app out of Beta too?
As mentioned previously, if there is a new Android TV apk it would be appreciated - cheers

to be more clear, To my knowledge, the Sony TV's have nothing todo with 30fps.
I can understand how two and two go together though.
I appreciate the feedback, and i'll pass it along.
I dont have a rock hard date i can give at this stage. Will be before RWC however.

I was never a fan of smart TV, cos they aren't really that smart. The processor is weak, insufficient memory to handle proper buffering/caching. I always prefer the non-smart TV when they were still available - much cheaper and I can just connect it with an android tv box (i.e. shield tv) or a PC that is way smarter than those built-in smart functions. Not to even mention having to rely on the TV manufacturer to provide updates to their proprietary software...

Sony Android have Chromecast built in right. So how does that work for 60 FPS compatibility?
My 2016 Sony 49" X800D 4K OLED offered up an Android TV Update to Oreo 8 this evening. After the update I found the Spark Sport app available through Google Playstore, installed, ran, and watched some of the Spark Sport RWC 2019 programs all delivered without a single stutter. Very good picture and happy its working on a 2016 model
Frizzup
Great result.
