According to this company, Smudge, they have developed the Sky Go app  for Android and it will be released sometime this month. Think there could be a good chance that we can side load the app onto the Fire TV?

I bought mine from trademe at higher price.  I see they are advertised even dearer now.  Reason being I dont have a youshop or equivalent account and thought not worth the cost of joining for a 1 off purchase.
I have plex on it and it is excellent.  So far it plays my avi and mkv flawlessy.  Of course I havent played every single one yet but seems promising.   The music works well as well.

One thing it's (badly) missing: a clock!

On Windows Media Center if you push the PLAY button it shows you where in the content you are and the clock on top right. The Amazon FireTV has no option to show where you are (except for the push PLAY which pauses the playback) and no clock at all. Perhaps they don't want you to find out the time and stop watching?

There is no cost to join YouShop.

oh well, will remember that if there is a next time.   Only time I looked ages ago before youshop, you had to pay a monthly or yearly fee for the forwarding ones I looked at, so assumed (yeah, I know) youshop wopuld also have a fee

Nope, it's just a one-off cost per package, weight variable. :)

This doesnt really matter considering theres only American timezones in the box to choose from! There is no way to choose NZ or anywhere out of the greater 52 states. Xbmc has clocks everywhere and its annoying that its so far off but oh well.

Oh wow that's brilliant. Just checking Antarctica timezones on google, apparently there's 6 timezones down there, does it let you specify which of the 6 to use?

Just one, for their own Antarctic station, which seems to correspond to our timezone (no DST obviously).

Pretty nice and makes the 99 USD a year have a lot more value. BUT, its not new series. So if you are following Game of Thrones you will have to wait a good while before you can see the episodes currently showing on HBO.
