Yep, I can cope with this so far, dinner still safely in my tummy.

Edit to add : Things do go a bit wobbly when you try pausing, rewinding, and fast-forwarding though.

Watched SA v Japan casting from a Samsung S8 to a Chrome cast. Watchable but the quality intermittently dropped for a few minutes before resuming a crisp HD picture. Will test with other devices to see if I see the same thing.

I had issues last night with the F1 practice

Chromecast ultra - kept dropping quality , same issue as you
SmartVU, using app - perfect no quality drops

Both using same wifi and close to each other

Watched the SA vs Japan replay just now. The quality has improved a lot from the rubbish they had before.

The motion is still not good.. It's just not smooth and this comes down to the encoding.

I will concede that it is now "watchable" - but there is still a lot of room for improvement. I give it a 6/10 for picture motion quality.

What were you watching on? My Apple TV app and Panasonic tv app both looked great.

If anyone wants a cheap way to smarten up their not-so-smart TV I have a MiBox which works fine watching Spark Sport on Kodi.

PM me if interested.

(Reason for selling - I bought a couple of FireTV sticks on Prime day for US$35 each)

Have you got the apk working on MiBox? I've only got SS working via Kodi but would love to get the android tv app working. Every time I install it it succeeds but I can't locate it to run it (using an app to locate all apps on the device).

Not according to others. You may want to get an IT guy in.

When watching the SA v JPN game last night, the best stream I got 1280x720 @ 30 FPS

When watching pre-recorded content today I got 1920x1080 @ 30 FPS.....

I wonder if SparkSport tuned down the feed for the live game, can anyone verify if they got better than 1280x720 @ 30 FPS?

thanks

Virtually everybody got a 7Mbps stream. The great majority got a 1080P/60 stream.

I personally got 1080P60 on the end of F1 FP1 and the Rugby at the same time (test + personal account)

Cheers - N

Sounds like I should shell out for a chromecast 3rd generation then :)

(I will say though - that even at 1280 x 720 @ 30 FPS was perfectly watchable, hovering around 4Mbps)

Thanks!

What's the best/easiest way to confirm what resolution and fps that you're being served? Looking at router bandwidth use?

Testing via the shield and the Bravia, and on either device Spark Sport has never looked as smooth as a YouTube 60fps video for me.

Guess, I want to go through the motions and figure out if there's something I'm doing wrong, or my expectations are too high!

My refurbished Chromecast Ultra arrived today.   Rock solid compared with my original  CC that I bought  when they first came out.  Clear picture and no intermittent dropping back to SD.  I only tested it on the Jap Vs SA replay.  Will be interesting to see what happens  on opening day.  Not to bad for $60

Regards,

Old3eyes
