It's perfect into my tv directly, into an hdcp stripper and the tv and into a hdmi to composite box so no idea. Perhaps try turning off dolby digital plus incase your reciever is advising an incorrect edid?

thanks for the advice, yeah I have turned off dolby digital plus and it remains. I'm totally banging my head against a wall.

What HDCP stripper are you using and how do you find it?

AT the moment I can only cope with 1080i (HDFury2 into a Hauppauge HD PVR) which is OK. Looking at upgrading my capture capability to 1080p, which means replacing the Hauppauge unit. While I'm at it, I'm also considering replacing the Fury (which will do 1080p) with an HDCP stripper, to eliminate the digital->analog step from the process and hopefully boost quality a bit.

So tentatively also contemplating a proper HDCP stripper, rather than an HDMI->component unit.

There's a chance that the splitter could be malfunctioning.

My 'Old School' approach tells me that switches are generally more reliable than splitters.

Seriously considering a second of these for our lounge. I am so unbelievably impressed with it. Anyone know if you can have two per account and on the same network?
Amazon confirm you can, you can't play the exact same video at the same time on two different devices however.

If anyone has one they want to sell, please contact me.

I find it hard to believe that 4 of these splitters would "malfunction" and not do hdcp on their outputs but do it on the input.

It's a deliberate design decision. If it's for cost cutting or to make them more desirable is debatable but they allow me to capture from the chromecast or mysky perfectly. And to get video on my dvi only screen in hd.

The limited range non repeatable remote annoys me on the fire tv. At least I can control the chromecast anywhere in wifi vs being within range of the amazon remote.

My Fire Tv turned up this week. Very happy with the native Plex support and it's super fast. Once they solve the 5.1 problems with Plex I'll probably replace the Apple TV using Plexconnect in the lounge.

I am thinking of another 2 FireTV. One more for me, another for my father in law. I don't have anyone in the US coming back right now unfortunately so it will end up having to be Youshop. I think someone had said it fell inside the minimum $22 shipping, but I was wondering what the likelyhood a second unit would also cost $22 or less?
