I have run into something odd with ABC Iview that I don’t quite understand. For the past three nights, I have been following the stargazing programmes on the main ABC channel. After the programmes ended the broadcast would switch to the Comedy Channel for an additional half-hour. If I clicked on the IPTV live stream that is shared by the Children’s channel and the Comedy channel, I would see a notice that the stream was temporarily unavailable.

I soon discovered that I could still play the stream by going to the iView add-on and looking for it there. But it would only play on my generic Chinese Android box. On my Nvidia Shield I would get the same message that the stream was unavailable, though it would play normally up until 8 pm Sydney time.

Tonight I was watching the news stream on the Shield when the same thing happened for the first time on that channel. At around 8.20 pm Sydney time the stream suddenly cut out with the same message about it being unavailable. I also got the same message on the add-on live stream feed and on both the Comedy channel feeds. When I checked this on the Chinese box, the Comedy channel worked normally from the add-on but not the news channel.

I’m not sure what is going on here and I am particularly puzzled by the different behaviour of the Shield and the generic box. Both are set up identically with Kodi. Also, whatever is happening is a change from the recent past. Is this issue likely to get worse? Why does the live stream work from the add-on but not (sometimes) from the PVR IPTV Simple Client URL? Can anyone shed some light on this?

The ABC IPTV streams seem to have stopped working. I have set up IPTV Simple Client with a combination of the streams from Huisman and @Apsattv so I normally get all the ABC streams as well as ABC Sydney. At first I only had trouble with ABC Sydney, which sometimes worked, sometimes didn’t. Gradually this got worse and now all the ABC streams are not working. They do work normally if I use the iView add-on and choose a live stream. There do not seem to be any issues with my Internet speed or quality. It seems to be specific to ABC. Does anyone know what is going on here, or why this might be happening?

I use the matt huisman streams and can confirm the ABC streams are not working for me today (I have checked a couple of times).
Not sure when they last worked.

Rugby thing was good. Wondering if we could possibly get a tennis thing in the new year.

Highly likely. Seven sold their rights to upcoming Australian tennis season to Nine (since Seven have commitments to a few cricket matches), so the games will be on the Nine network. The rights are for broadcast TV, pay TV and online. Hopefully it will be as good as Seven who had up to 16 streams during the Australian Open (one for each court), plus the broadcast streams. Whether they will be additional streams in the 9 Now app (like they were with State of Origin) or a separate app (like 7Tennis was) is unknown.

Just expect to see promos for MAFS between every point :P

I am not a fan of Sky News but I got around to looking at the three IPTV Sky News Extra streams today. I notice that all three have a slight 'tick' every few seconds, not bad enough to make them unwatchable, but noticeable. The stream makes a slight jump or twitch, then carries on until it happens again. All of the other IPTV streams work normally. This only happens with the three Sky News streams. Does anyone else see this and does anyone know what the cause would be? I am not particularly bothered by it, mostly just curious.
