I was browsing the pre-orders on iTunes. SING 2, SPIDER-MAN: NO WAY HOME and THE 355, are the newest listings, and none have yet got a release date.

I got to thinking, why would you pre-order from iTunes? Its not as if they will sell out, that doesn't happen with digital titles. When I collected SteelBooks from around the world, I did pre-order most of the 300 plus titles that I bought, because many times they would sell out on day one. But it just seems pointless to me to pre-order from iTunes.

Anybody here DO pre-order from iTunes? And, if so, what are your reasons for doing so?

Not me, I wouldn't ever pre-order something digital unless there was some sort of bonus for doing so. Games, for example often do come with extra skins or something if you pre-order. Sometimes the bonuses can be worth it.

I don’t either. I don’t see the point. I possibly could if the pre-order came with extras (audio commentaries, featurettes etc). I normally wait till a sale.

Speculation is it should be end of February or early March.

It looks like won’t be on any streaming services until at least 2023, and Netflix will have it before Disney, as Sony has a deal with Netflix.

I don’t see any point buying it on pre-order as well. Though I don’t mind them showing it on preorder as definitely know it is coming. I’m sure other titles have shown the expected date, guess the Spider Man release date isn’t fixed in stone yet.

The other question is where is the New Ghostbusters movie?. Its already been released on Disc etc overseas ie USA. Bit slow down this end of the world. I have never preordered a film,be it disc or stream. I normally turn up to the store on release or rent/buy on itunes on the day.

I think that the new Ghostbusters movie had a much later theatrical release in NZ, so it will be a bit later arriving here compared to the USA.

RECOMMENDATION:

Every now and again I come across a hidden gem on iTunes. Either as a $0.99 Rental, or a $4.99 purchase. One of those gems is THE GUEST (2014).

I was reading on one of the forums, that the film was being upgraded to 4K in The States (Don't know if we will get the upgrade) and I remembered how surprisingly good this was when I first saw it.

The film stars Dan Stevens; you know, that posh git Matthew Crawley in Downton Abbey. This was the first time that I had seen Stevens since his untimely death in "Downton" (my wife watched it πŸ˜€). What a surprise! His portrayal of David, a returnee from service in Afghanistan, is the complete opposite to the smooth, debonair character from the TV series. So, maybe, when the film is available for $0.99 Rental, give it a go πŸ‘.

The Guest tells the story of a U.S. soldier called David who unexpectedly visits the Peterson family, introducing himself as a friend of their son who died in combat in Afghanistan. After he has been staying in their home for a couple of days, a series of deaths occur, and the daughter Anna, suspects David is connected to them.

No release date on JB Hi-Fi's website yet, but there is a release date for The USA 4K UHD/Blu-ray disc, and its April 12th.

Hopefully this means an iTunes release around the beginning of April.

I am very pleased to see that THE GODFATHER TRILOGY is getting a Dolby Vision/4K HDR/Dolby True HD 5.1 release in NZ on March 23rd. For those of you who already own the trilogy on iTunes, it should be a free upgrade. The 4K UHD physical media release will include the original three films, plus the new (2020) cut of THE GODFATHER Part III; which is entitled CODA: THE DEATH OF MICHAEL CORLEONE. and includes a new beginning and ending, plus alterations to several scenes.

EDIT: Thanks to Barrintus post below this. I now have the correct information 😁

The first iTunes trilogy included the original third film (1991 re-master), but they have now replaced it with the new 2020 cut, which includes the original third part in the extras. πŸ˜€

Isn’t The Godfather part iii included as an extra on Coda: The Death of Michael Corleone?

The first iTunes trilogy included the original third film, but they have now replaced it with the new cut. So, if you already own the old or new trilogy on iTunes, and want the complete 4-film collection, you will have to purchase the film that you don't have in your trilogy πŸ˜€

THE 355 is now available to Buy/Rent. Unfortunately it bombed at the Box-Office, so it looks like they are trying to recoup some of the production costs. 29.99 Buy: $24.99 Rent. HD/DDP 5.1

LAST NIGHT IN SOHO is now available to buy for $19.99: DV/DA, and  Rom/Com THE HATING GAME $19.99 Buy: $7.99 Rent.  HD/DDP 5.1
