UKe17:

This morning (Monday 26 August) I found the SS app on my LG tv.

Great news - may I ask which year your TV is?

Wait, so you are saying there is a LG App as of today?

Wish I saw this earlier so I could check. I'll check it tonight on the  2019 LG C9 and report back

I see that LG have disappeared from on the SS "what device" FAQ page this morning. Is this  good  news?

THat was Friday. This morning (Monday 26 August) I found the SS app on my LG tv.

So - they made it, but not without some agitation on the part of LG owners.

Where and how did you find it? We have a 2018 C8 and a 2019 C9 and it’s not in the LG Content Store on either of those.

Sounds like there's a go/no-go this week.

Had a chat with SS:

Me (26/08/2019, 14:18:31): Hi there
Me (26/08/2019, 14:18:54): Is the LG app still coming out? It used to say coming soon in the FAQs but now it isn't there
Lesley F (26/08/2019, 14:19:58): Hi Sean, please keep a look out on our social media pages and our website, as we will advise later on the week to our Spark Sport customers.
Me (26/08/2019, 14:20:16): What does that mean?
Me (26/08/2019, 14:20:44): I just want to know if it is still coming out or not so i can arrange alternative plans if not
Lesley F (26/08/2019, 14:20:57): At this moment, we are still waiting for confirmation from our tech team.
Lesley F (26/08/2019, 14:21:38): We will have an update this week for our Spark Sports customers regarding LG TV.
Me (26/08/2019, 14:22:04): Do you know when this week?
Lesley F (26/08/2019, 14:22:32): Please check with us this Wednesday

My apologies - I addressed my query to you - should have been the poster you quoted. I’ll re-do it.

It’s OK - I didn’t think you meant me - I realised you meant the ‘other guy’.

See above - have now queried him directly.

Interesting - basically they are saying that they could only get the SS app to run properly on the 2nd gen Alpha 9 processors TV's.

I guess the processors on the older TV's doesn't have enough oomph or Spark's team is just poor at software optimization OR maybe LG didn't want the SS app to be available on older TV's, cause you know LG doesn't like giving software updates to old models.

At least they have come to the party - so if you purchased a older 2018 LG TV after 20 December 2018, you can go back to the store and they will give you an alternative streaming devices, like a chrome cast at no cost (spark will pay the cost).

2014 on LG smart TV’s have enough CPU power to play Netflix in 4K, but Spark Sport cannot make a 2018 one work with HD content. Think it’s the App team that is the problem not the TV. I hate having to hang a $50 dongle off my $2000 TV, just doesn’t seem right it cannot be made to work. Really a bit sick of the environmental waste of having to replace TV’s, Phones, Mac’s or soon Car’s because the manufacture cannot be bothered to upgrade the software on a perfectly good piece of hardware. If it’s a revenue issue, why cant they do a service agreement if you want software support beyond say 2 years
