steve2222: 1/ why did it not affect EVERYONE using that ISP? I for one had zero issues with Telecom/UnoTelly over this last week or so.
Telecom for instance allowed those that picked up a free static IP to opt-out of the transparent proxy pool, which was particularly useful in certain situations especially if you were a tele-worker/remote-worker/'road-warriors' that for large portions of the day couldn't use their ISPs' DNS settings. Especially when it came down to the way certain CDNs were handled.
2/ why did it not affect anyone in Australia ie surely the NZ ISP's do not use configurations/setups (like transparent proxies) that would be so different to a neighbouring country?
Simple fact of the matter, Australia is in a much better geographical position to us with the location of Perth and Darwin, which allows connections to Singapore and other Asian countries in addition to America, their International transit is far superior to ours that for the last 10 years the need for caching content has not crossed the minds of NOCs in Australia.
