Re "extra accounts".  Can someone please clarify if the users of the the main and extra accounts have to reside at the same address?

Ie. is it legitimate to assign extra accounts to say adult children living at a different address?

Thanks

People can be at different addresses. The premium 4K one allows for two added accounts. It’s an additional $9.95 per one which is charged to main account holder.

The added accounts get their own user name and password from my understanding.

The given reason for the price increases is to encourage people to move to the more profitable ad-supported plan. So what happens when the bottom falls out of the advertising market, like it has with other media? Will they drop the prices of the ad-free plans to encourage people to move back? Somehow I think not. More likely they'll increase the price of the ad plans.

Interesting... And do each of the three accounts (main plus two added) also have their own multiple profiles?

TBH, I'd be comfortable signing up for an ongoing sub at that price, provided it did allow for fully separated accounts with multiple profiles.

Just a matter of finding two others willing and suitable to go in on it, and to have agreed to arrangements like payment, what happens if (when?!) prices go up etc. Obviously easier with family and friends, but potentially possible via connections through networks such as GZ.

Moved to Basic plan... be interesting to see if I can even tell the difference.

I canned Netflix a couple months ago, which I'd been trying to do for 2 years but my wife wouldn't let it go for "her shows".  When I was able to tell her she hadn't watched anything in 3 months I finally got the nod.

that would likely depend on how you consume it. if mainly on a portable device and one stream at a time, probably won't make much of a difference. those with a full HDR+ and Dolby Atmos setups, along with a family that simultaneously stream content are more likely to feel the difference.

Yes, each account (main and subs) has its own profile. I do this with my brother, who has the main account, and I have a sub-account. I can't see his account and I assume he can't see mine (haven't actually verified that). I've set up a monthly automatic payment to send him a payment for my sub. He lives in Christchurch and I live in Auckland. If he ever cancels his account then I think mine gets removed too (vaguely remember reading that somewhere).

It's essential like a normal account with profiles, except it's tied/billed to the main/lead account

I cancelled both the main account and the extra one. The main reason is that I don't want to pay that much for 4k (i.e., two households x 1 person each coming in at over $40 does not make sense). No option for a cheaper ad version was offered, so I don't know if others are waiting on it or were offered it. At the same time, I cancelled all but Curiosity stream, which offered one year for $23 NZ if I stayed, so I took that. Total savings look to be over $50 a month. Now to decide by Black Friday if keep Sky Sport Now.

I had a sub account, and the main user has cancelled. Although I was offered to stay at normal rates, I have cancelled as well.

There are no ad supported plans in NZ (unless I am missing something)

Finally got my own email confirming the price change WEF 12 May.  I anticipate cancelling my service before then.
Can no longer sustain as many streaming services as we have with them all ramping up their prices.

Might flop back and forth between a couple ever few months. Current got some (new) content on Prime and Neon on the go, whereas the Netflix stuff i'm watching is mainly nostalgia reruns I can go without.

(but having learned my lesson on this, I have to check with my kids first this time! Oops)

I'd hate to think how much money is wasted around the world by households holding onto streaming accounts that are not being used.

No wastage in this house anymore. Just downgraded to the SD plan before I get the price hike email, and thought might as well drop fibre to 50 Mbps while I'm at it. We've had 300 Mbps fibre for about a year and a half too, and the cable to the O.N.T only does 100 Mbps. Never had the need to replace it.
