Mine too

Thank you!

I have been playing with the NZ Netflix service, which runs a hell of a lot smoother than the USA service.

What do people think about the content, when compared with the USA service?

My wife's not at all impressed :o

You can now use the NZ version with your same subscription. I was just wondering if anyone preferred it to the US version?

I see another update came out today (not that im on said version). Im on ancient rooted firmware from nearly a year ago. Its been some time since i investigated the firetv situation and holy heck they have come far, they now have pre-rooted stock images! i can finally have a new firmware version and still have the benefit of root (which at this point is only NTFS over fat32 storage), but having twrp installed will be usefull if they finish the androidtv port to firetv.

Anyone notice if you try accessing netflix nz on your AFTV, it wont load and just crash, had this issue last night.

Also if i accessed netflix while on wireless on both AFTV and AFTV stick every program i chose got stuck loading at 25% and wouldn't play, but if i selected the same program on the LG TV app (wireless as well) program would play straight away.

Hi there,

Im considering buying the Amazon Fire TV. Currently using ATV and get tired of the lag and other silly problems with it. Is the Amazon device that much better. I would be using for US Netflix and Hulu Plus.

And also If I click the link at the top of the Geekzone page is that the best way to buy one?
Cheers

I have both but definitely prefer the Amazon box over the Apple one. Of course my experience is totally subjective but for me the UI is nicer, it's more fluid, and just a better experience. The Amazon remote is nice to use and voice search works suprisingly well with a NZ accent.

The only real reason I use an Apple TV is for AirPlay and that I have a US iTunes account, everything else I use the Amazon box.

Does the voice search function work for Netflix? Or is that only for the Amazon Prime service? Also do you use Amazon prime?

The last time I used voice search (I've been away from home for a while with work) it was Amazon only. It's supposed to be coming to Netflix, not sure if it has with the most recent update. Yes I'm a Prime member too.

the box is great, the stick is laggy slow hopeless.

Voice search will find things and netflix and hulu plus are in there as more ways to watch if its on amazon and the other service. Music videos will come up with vevo if you install that but it seldom works to actually play them.

The Netflix interface is much nicer on the Fire TV.  Also you can sideload XBMC on the Fire TV and launch Netflix from inside XBMC which is nice.
