dwl:
The close up from NFL has a lot more edge detail to my eye that isn't there in the PLP.  If I look at the sizes of the JPG (letting an "independent" algorithm work out how much detail it thinks is there with the same number of pixels) the NFL has 417 kB while the PLP has only 162 kB.  This is a lot.

Oops - didn't check enough before my last post  The JPG files supplied have been coded with different qualities if I can believe the reporting in Irfanview.  The numbers were:

PLP face shot - 2560 x 1600 Pixels - 162.23 KB - JPEG, quality: 75
NFL face shot - 2560 x 1600 Pixels - 417.26 KB - JPEG, quality: 90, subsampling OFF
PLP field - 536.55 KB - JPEG, quality: 90, subsampling OFF
NFL field - 619.05 KB - JPEG, quality: 90, subsampling OFF

If I save the NFL face shot at JPEG quality = 75 in Irfanview the file size drops to 187.15 KB.  It still looks a lot better than the PLP version, and I suspect that PLP encoded at quality = 90 wouldn't look much different, but the size differences earlier indicated aren't a valid guide.  For the same nominal quality JPEG save there does seem more detail in NFL but the difference is more around 15% of file size on this limited number of samples.  The encoding picture quality difference may be more.

Ok, well those are 2 things that screw up badly written flash stuff at going fullscreen. Try solving both and see if fullscreen works for you.

Apsattv: Are these feeds from the same server source Coliseum are using?

They are all different addresses  for me on Telecom DNS but I guess it will depend on your ISP (or more correctly where your DNS is pointing):

NBA HD -  ping nba247.cdnak.nbahd.neulion.com = a1189.g.akamai.net (219.88.185.58)

NFL HD - ping smb.cdnak.neulion.com = a1428.g.akamai.net (219.88.187.112)

NHL HD -  ping smb.cdnak.neulion.com = a1428.g.akamai.net (219.88.186.104)

PLP demo main stream - ping nlds119.cdnak.neulion.com = a1702.g2.akamai.net (219.88.186.97)
PLP secondary source - ping nlds119.cdnl3nl.neulion.com = cdnl3nl.neulion.com.c.footprint.net (8.27.254.126)

All the Akamai are very local for me, quite possibly co-located, while the L3 is in the US.  I expect the servers used could change daily so not sure the merits of worrying about a specific server and the exact server and path in use at the time will be the important bit.

EDIT: Note that NFL and NHL have same server name but even this can return different addresses as above  or multiple results:
smb.cdnak.neulion.com. 692 IN CNAME smb.cdnak.neulion.com.edgesuite.net.
smb.cdnak.neulion.com.edgesuite.net. 3188 IN CNAME a1428.g.akamai.net.
a1428.g.akamai.net. 20 IN A 219.88.187.35
a1428.g.akamai.net. 20 IN A 219.88.187.112

You're not kidding!

Apple are notorious for dragging their heels on app approvals.

I would've thought that this would have been one of the forst things they'd have developed as it wold be the most commonly used method, based on tablet usage and ease of use etc...

Pretty bad, to leave this to the last minute.

Yep, the original png screenshots were ~2.3mb each and image hosts didn't seem to like them, hence the additional compression. As I said, direct snapshots from the actual videos would have been better but those give you a relatively good idea of the difference visually.
