Quick question,

I have setup UnblockUS and changed my iTunes store to US in my AppleTV (to get Netflix) and it works perfectly.

Question is - to rent/buy movies from iTunes, do I need to switch it back to the NZ iTunes store (assuming I do not actually have a US iTunes account)? Or if I sign into iTunes on the AppleTV will it just show me the NZ movies?

I am setting it up for someone else later today, and I think that they do actually rent movies from iTunes. Will changing their iTunes store to US (so that the ATV shows the Netflix App) stop them doing this? Or will I have to set them up a US iTunes account?

Hope that's not to unclear.

Thanks.

Apple uses your account to determine which content is available, not IP address or server. If you use a NZ account you will always see NZ-only content.

Excellent. Clever Apple. So as far as what they already use their ATV for, adding Netflix and telling it US iTunes Store (so that Netflix appears), nothing will change from a movies they can rent perspective.

Thanks.

In my experience, for netflix to stay showing y need to be signed in on a us account, and then the nzstore does not show up. Yu have to change regions back and forth, or set up a us itunes account.

I do not have a US ITunes account, I have just told the ATV to use the US iTunes Store.
But, I have not tried to rent a movie.

The US iTunes has a much better selection than the NZ one.

FWIW if you have an Air New Zealand OneSmart account with USD funds loaded on it, you can use that for US iTunes purchases.

I concur, and have been doing this for the last year or so myself... Btw, to get a non CC US iTunes account, change your store on an I device, and then just 'buy' a free app, this will net you the US account, then AFTERWARD, add your onesmart CC details and you're good to go.

I personally don't travel much at the moment (young kids) but change all my onesmart $'s to US$ ASAP, so's to avoid the monthly fees.

Feel free to PM me about this if you get stuck? :)

I have Netflix working fine at home (I use my OneSmart Card, no problems).

I went to set it up for a friend yesterday, setup and configured Unblock-US fine, but Netflix would not accept her OneSmart credit card (Just came back saying there is a problem with your Credit Card, or please enter a valid number - got both messages). I tried it with mine and got the same message about problem with CC.

Weird, going to wait a couple of days and see if it fixes itself.

For NetFlix, I used my standard BNZ Visa. It has no problems accepting that. Its only iTunes that doesn't like my NZ credit card.
