Some of the prices on Google Play for rental look pretty appealing.

Anyone recently streamed movies from Google Play via Chromecast?

How was the quality (as no info on google site re SD vs HD, or stereo vs 5.1 for example)?

Any stutter or buffering?

How does overall experience rate with Netflix as a comparative?

You can probably get a free movie (if you haven't already) by visiting https://cast.google.com/chromecast/offers/ from a Chrome browser running the Chromecast add-on and on the same network as your device.

Try that., use the freebie and see how it goes.

I redeemed for Lucy and it played with no problems, in HD.

Thanks for the free movie link, however, I didn’t have much success. I selected “John Wick” in HD, but it came through clearly SD and kept freezing for several seconds every 10 or so seconds, so I gave up. Netflix, however, plays fine on HD via the Chromecast, so I am not sure why Google Play movies would suffer, yet Netflix is fine? Any thoughts?

I’d like to keep testing Google Play movies via Chromecast, but don’t want to have to pay for movies for testing purposes – is anyone aware if there any free movies on Google Play, I had a look last night but couldn’t find any?

cheers
