Would love some help on this one.

Last night our 4 month old LG TV (smart TV with magic remote) suddenly wont load shows on Netflix, Freeview App, TVNZ and 3Now. The apps open but just wont start streaming content. The strange thing is that our Apple TV (connected via HDMI to the TV) has also stopped playing shows on TVNZ and 3Now. HOWEVER, Apple TV will play Netflix. Both indicate a good connection to our broadband wifi.

Broadband wifi (Vodafone Ultra Hub) connection seems fine and our mobile phones are streaming shows without any issues.

Any ideas? I thought it must be an issue with the LG TV however why would Apple TV have issues as it is only connected via HDMI. Then I thought that TVNZ and 3Now apps might have issues but then why is Netflix not working on the smart TV but IS working on the Apple TV.

I tried resetting the TV but nothing changed and now it wont update the Apps. All very strange - I hate a problem without a solution so any tips would be much appreciated.

Cheers

I would power down, your modem/roouter, ATV and TV. Start them back up, see what happens.

1. Uninstall and reinstall apps and that doesnt work

2. Hard reset ATV

Have you forced the LG apps to close using the remote?  Bring up the app bar at the bottom, then move the cursor to the top of the screen where the name of the app is, if you hover over the name for a second it brings up a big X button that you can click to force close the app in question.  Then just relaunch it.  Turning the TV off and on again doesn't always do the same thing.

Thanks all, will try these once wife is off bachelorette ;) (airplay from phone).

Although one other thing to deepen the mystery. The three now and tvnz apps won't play shows on demand but will play live stream. So weird.

Have you recently changed something with your DNS? Or using an overseas dns service? The AppleTV not working for TVNZ and tv3 sounds like a geo restriction issue, LG is quite possibly needing a full restart.

I have an LG TV that is a few months old. Occasionally I get some funny things happening with the apps. Only thing that will resolve it is to turn power off at the wall. Not sure if you've done this yet though....

Won't help your ATV though. Good luck!
