Elon Musk called a hero who saved the boys trapped in a cave in Thailand a "Paedo".
Probably best to ignore his personal opinion and choices on most things - he's a proper dick.
To clarify - his "opinion" that as his wife and son and he are in a "low risk" group thus the risk of vaccination outweighs in his mind the risk of the disease is immensely selfish and shows clearly that he does not give a f%&K about fellow human beings.
I do wonder if there was a referendum on vaccination that stated only vaccinated children could go to state schools (with exemptions for those who need it, chemo recovery, allergy etc). Would you have to have alternative schools as an option, home schooled?
Surely if the majority voted on something it could be enforced?
12 new cases today, all in MIQ, so from aircraft, effectively nothing to see here.
When was the last CT case?

Thanks. One week, thats good. Level 1 will be beckoning soon for our Auckland cousins
Another day no local transmission, hopefully we can continue through school holidays and election and then plan for summer.
12 Incoming cases in 1 day, hopefully this is an exception as we have limited facilities and having extra space at Jetpark did help us to quickly contain the Americold outbreak. Its a possible point that Jetpark capacity might have been a factor in health worker getting covid, with sudden pressure to look after so many new cases ?
There was a report of some of the incoming that later test positive coming via test and fly airlines, we should keep detailed stats on the test and fliers for future reference.
Dairy Farmers looking at getting Philipine workers back in situation there , may also put a load on Jetpark if infection rate is high. Does not look great there, and with Government of President Rodrigo Duterte.

Australia have had an issue come up with shipping , and puzzling how to deal with this.
Test and sail seems to have issues of test and fly.

Authorities are concerned by a COVID-19 outbreak aboard a cargo ship off the Australian northwest coast. Eight more members of the Filipino crew tested positive, bringing the number of infections to 17 out of a crew of 21.
""
Cook said he wanted to bring the skeleton crew ashore, but the ship would need a replacement crew and to undergo a deep clean before that replacement crew boarded.
""
The ship’s Germany-based operator Oldendorff said the crew were tested for COVID-19 in the Philippines before boarding the ship on Sept. 5. The ship arrived off Port Hedland on Sept. 16 when two crew members were reported ill.

Test and fliers can't be helped. Not every country does that, and we don't make it a rule. Rapid testing is unreliable. While some may argue its a help, it really offers no value to us. Unreliability means we can't rely on it
Medical view re testing regime. Cheap, rapid tests in combination with PCR need for an effective Covid filter that will stop the pandemic.

In combination? You need another test to fix/resolve the cheap rapid testing failures. So why do cheap rapid testing in the first place. Its like the test 3 days before you board a plane idea, what a shocking idea. Then over 3 days get infected. Get infected in the borrding area.
Yes, if a rapid test was very accurate, that would go a massive way to moving forward, it would be a game changer

Except it is reliable. Too many people don't understand the tests and get confused and then spread false information. Antigen testing is a game changer and should have been allowed months ago.
In that case we dont need any tests other than these reliable rapid tests. And no MIQ apart from the positives. That will now just be a "Q" But that doesn't seem to be the case
How quick and how reliable?

Do they need to be super reliable? As a preventative measure to stop one case from possibly turning into 12, it could be worth the hassle.
Obviously you wouldn't use it to decide whether someone is quarantined or not, but if you can stop one person getting on a plane and infecting a whole bunch...
