I really can't understand why people don't do it - it takes seconds. Especially given the grumbling when we went back to levels 2/3 in August.

I get that it's behavioural science, but honestly people. Exasperating.

Because they have made it harder than other ways to track where I have been and when. There is no requirement to use their app, they say to use their app or have a log of where you have been.

True,  but by using an alternative method you will not be advised digitally of any potential infection locations where you were present at the same time as an infected case....

You will have to manually have to match any public health advisory with your list of past locations and times .....

Some of these business owners requiring foreign workers need to smarten up. They need to own responsibility. If Christchurch, for instance, was required to go into a two week lockdown as a direct result of quarantined workers would said business owner be prepared to compensate others affected?

Plus you have to actually make/have a log of where you've been. The app makes this very easy in my experience, struggling to think of other ways that would be easier. I specifically don't use Google Maps and that timeline thing but I guess that's easier.

I also highly doubt that all the people not scanning in with the Covid Tracer app are reliably using some other method to track their travels....

The business is paying for the isolation as part of the arrangement. This should cover the procedures, surely?

Why? Does the same apply to the private Kiwi citizens that try to and have escaped, or who have given the virus to anyone working in MIQ?

Ditto,

We have been told by the Government that both the mariners and the staff working at the Hotel have done everything correctly, and this is an example of the "system working".... so its a bit hard to blame them if they haven't done anything wrong.....

I think what Buster was getting at, if something goes wrong (and it has) which then causes a city to go into lock down, the fishing industry in this instance is not going to pay other businesses for loss’s from a city lock down, or people’s lost wages.

‘They’re just paying for isolation costs of workers, and double bedding suggests they’re trying to do it on the cheap as well.

To my mind possible Chch lockdown (even for only two weeks) trumps the arrangement made for this particular business venture. Possible spinoffs - what if it rules out a Christmas bubble with Australia?

Now is not the time to blame. By the same token then, who pays for the AKL lockdown? If you found the cause which may be a nurse, a cleaner, MIQ staff member, do they pay for it?

And if the cause wasnt a fisherman but a citizen from Australia, who do you bill then?

We've got to do better at minimising the risk. What has happened in Chch has elements that are a long way short of any kind of gold standard.

The risk is mimised, we have had 70,000 through and a handful of issues some of which were escapees smashing windows and fences. Your reply suggest that there is risk and we need to minimise it. Check the numbers, 70,000 through. Thats clearly a well minimised risk if you ask me
