NZ ranked first in the world for Covid resilience by Bloomberg
SA gets tough - any future covid patients to be place in hospital under police guard.
No new cases yesterday (& likely no local cases in AU. ACT, Tas, and WA still to report, but local cases in those areas unlikely)

NZ a long way down on access to vaccines though!
Even more puzzling they have Taiwan and Singapore in the bottom rank for that category.
And oddities in the resilience rankings also (including Singapore below Japan, Finland, Norway, Denmark despite much higher case rates in those countries)

just look at recent history
the powerfull countries literally taking PPE gear ( stopped at the boarder ) that was destined to be sent to other countries
hands up who really think the US (and the Eu) will let vax's be exported en mass if needed urgently in their own country
As it is , we dont have the infrastructure for one of the vax's NZ bought into ( the required deep refridgeration)
Wife had another covid-19 test last Sunday, at the medical centre. Took Monday off work. Waited for the message with results all Tuesday and nothing. So another day off Tuesday and since no results by end of the day, another day off today (Wednesday). I told her 72 hours was long enough, so she called the medical centre.
The nurse said something on the lines of "Oh, you were waiting for the results to go back to work? You could call any time."
I thought they would send a SMS - like all the previous times myself, wife and daughter were tested.
Very annoying.

This is very similar to what NZ does now with Jet Park.
Our headline could be - NZ locks up covid patients in isolation facility with army and police guards.

Santa should get vaccinated with the highest priority at all! ;-)

I'm waiting for the government to put out a special directive that Santa doesn't have to spend 14 days in MIQ...
Just wait I'm sure there will be one eventually

USA Today: Fauci says Santa Claus has 'innate immunity,' won't be spreading COVID-19 to anyone this Christmas
Santa Claus is coming to town. And he's not bringing COVID-19.
At least, that's the word from Dr. Anthony Fauci, the nation's leading infectious disease expert.
"Santa is exempt from this because Santa, of all the good qualities, has a lot of good innate immunity," Fauci told USA TODAY this week.
This is nonsense. I can't believe that Fauci would say that. My respect for him just took a tumble.
The reality is that Santa is ideally placed to be a super-spreader... multiple close contacts, and played by poor people who cannot afford time off work so are somewhat likely to work while symptomatic.
SMH!

I think Fauci was referring to the actual "jolly fat guy" who delivers gifts down your chimney :)
As opposed to the multitudes of scrawny gig-workers taking orders at malls ....
