Batman: On final warning. How many warnings do you get
IMO none. No need for warnings, the rules are plain to see, its an 11 month old problem. Look at the multi millions of global infected. Its no secret, and being a cool famous sportsman is no excuse
Meanwhile in USA the madness contines.
Supreme Court blocks strict COVID-19 restrictions on some New York houses of worship
https://www.usatoday.com/story/news/politics/2020/11/26/religious-freedom-supreme-court-blocks-covid-limits-n-y-churches/3767379001/
""
The Supreme Court placed religious freedom before pandemic precautions Wednesday night, temporarily blocking recent rules in New York that severely restricted gatherings at houses of worship in areas hit hardest by COVID-19.
""
"Even in a pandemic, the Constitution cannot be put away and forgotten," the court's unsigned majority opinion said. "The restrictions at issue here, by effectively barring many from attending religious services, strike at the very heart of the First Amendment’s guarantee of religious liberty."
""
So in the face of > 2K deaths per day, >180K and growing cases per day.
This reverses previous court judgement, supporting ability to control gatherings in a pandemic, and will probably propagate nationwide.

Your post is valued, despite the obvious....
Not by me. Watching self-flagellation by fellow NZers who seem to want to deny that we did well is sad.
While a kumara shouldn't need to sing endlessly about how sweet it is, I don't find rejecting compliments earned a very appealing quirk - especially when there appears to be more than a hint of cynical partisan whining to it.
For language geeks out there:
Pfizer vaccine: effective, protective and safe.
Moderna vaccine: effective, protective and safe.
Oxford vaccine: effective, protective, and safe.

I don't see the comment as self-flagellation. More a statement of "Who really cares what Bloomberg thinks on this?"
Yes, we did OK, I'd argue Taiwan has done better than us for many reasons, yet they ranked lower than us on Bloomberg's rating.
We had a lot of natural advantages to do well. Low population density, relatively isolated from infection sources - no leaky land borders, a generally compliant population.
I don't really care how well we did relative to other countries. Comparison metrics can be skewed to give desired outcomes or metrics important to the person compiling the report can have an undue weighting on the outcome. I care how well we have done for New Zealanders, that's what really matters.

Yep. The AZ "Oxford" vaccine trial may have a bit of a spanner in the works. It looks like the low initial dose regimen was an error - not a plan, the number of participants affected was small, so the "90% efficacy" for the half plus full strength regimen may not be statistically very robust. 62% is well below the ~95 % claims by Moderna and Pfizer
As well as preventing infection, how severe an infection is if the vaccine "fails" is important.

You don't need to extend that much say "who cares what anyone thinks".
One local case reported in Singapore yesterday after 14 days with none.
Familiar ring! Another case of an engineer who's job entails going onboard and servicing vessels. Still under investigation though - not yet certain that infection was from working on vessels.
Alas recently mingled with 12 family members at a dinner

8. Those who will delay getting vaccinated, allowing others to be the first guinea pigs of rushed-into-production vaccines.
Victoria reaches official elimination milestone - now 28 days with no cases.

Sounds like a word for word reply of our "Maritime Engineer" outbreak- except ours went to the Pub, he went out for a big family dinner
I see the Singapore-HK "bubble" had already been postponed for two weeks due to an outbreak in HK dance clubs.

My comment, i.e. Your post is valued, despite the obvious was a dig at what to me was a petty comment "do we get a certificate from Bloomberg" Personally I'm quite proud of what we have achieved. The poster in question has a very negative view of our response, so a bit of negative sarcasm there
