India traveller arrivals "paused" from 11-28th April

Seriously... Somebody whether they be a Govt minister, or senior management inside the MoH, NZDF or MBIE, somebody *has* to fall on the sword for this. It is simply inexcusible that we still have MIQ workers who are not vaccinated, and even worse don't even know how many there could be.
I would laugh but I think we all knew the government would screw this up. We have no vaccination "targets" as such, we have no idea how many border workers (who supposedly have all been vaccinated) haven't actually been vaccinated. We are 300,000 vaccinations behind schedule and only 40% of trained vaccinators are giving vaccinations. Not to forget we have 300,000 vaccines in storage doing nothing...
All brought to you by the most inept ministry of health department NZ has ever seen.

There hasn't been a shred of accountability to this point, it won't be starting now.

I don’t know how you can claim this.
Mostly because they are not normally seen and as such may have always had this level of competence.

GSManiac: Good decision for the safety of NZ.
Yes.
There's the chart for daily new cases in India. Confirmed cases are only 1/10 on a population basis as the worst affected countries, testing rates are only 10% as high, and the growth path is incredibly steep.

I have had dealings with MoH from about 2006 to last year, and can confirm that they could not be more inept than 10 years ago, or than last year.

Talk about jumping the gun. All we've been told is that the MIQ worker wasn't vaccinated, he was "security" (whatever that means), he should have been stood down to non-contact duties if he refused vaccination (or was unable to be vaccinated). Stuff's blog was reporting that he had a "high Ct count", then that means he had an "acute" infection, clearly indicating that whoever's blogging for them has zero understanding of PCR Ct counts and don't know what an "acute" infection is.
I'm happy to wait for more information before sending people to the firing squad.
Sometimes I've been accused of being a bit pessimistic here, but jeesh...

Many people I have talked to say that letting DHBs organise vaccinations would come back to bite us, I hope it isn't
3 weeks ago we were told
"As of yesterday, 83.6 per cent of MIQ and border staff have had their first vaccination. Out of a total 15,200 people, that’s 12,709 so far, and that number will grow,” Brigadier Bliss said."
https://www.miq.govt.nz/about/news/miq-and-border-workers-backing-vaccination-programme-3-weeks-in/
We were also told
"Vaccinations will be made available onsite where, or near where you work. You will be contacted to schedule a vaccination time"
https://www.health.govt.nz/system/files/documents/pages/covid-19-vaccine-faqs3-border-miq-workers.pdf
I look forward to the reason for this guard's lack of vaccination ( even the first shot)
People will get missed. People take days off or have to stay home to look after kids or swap shifts with colleagues or whathaveyou. There's lots of everyday reasons that someone who is working close to the border might fall through a crack. You're more likely to hear about them because they're far more likely to get sick than anyone else now.
Let me know when someone working at the border who had all the vaccinations suddenly tests positive, then I'll worry.

And the system should be built to handle that, the Guard was at work and they have the ability to vaccinate at those locations (or so we are told)
If you miss your vaccination appointment, you should get a text to ask for a rebook,
When you subsequently roll up for work a red light goes off when you clock in and you are asked when you are scheduled to get your shot, or you are offered the chance to go and get one on the spot..
These are the front line. this is a deadly disease, we need to get this right... not almost right...

I had my first jab more than 5 weeks ago and the second 3 weeks later.
At the time of the first one, I registered all my household contacts. They are in the next highest priority, but so far from the MoH......’crickets’. Asking around work colleagues, no-one in their households have been contacted yet. And the fact they have closed some of the original vaccination centres doesn’t fill me with confidence that the are going to come anywhere near their initial targets. With a supposed 90000 jabs having been administered (according the Stuart Nash) to 95% of 16000 frontline people (according to Bloomfield) where have the other 60000 jabs gone?
I was told by my boss when discussing scheduling my jabs that there needed to be a minimum of 3 weeks and a maximum of 6 between jabs (otherwise you start over). I haven’t been able to verify this from any official source.
You can see where they have gone here.

Pretty much. I worked a lot in the hospital system prior to leaving NZ. Dysfunctional is the kindest term. This isn't really the thread for it but the structure of the system is a mess.

Just watching the 3News 4.30 bulletin. Apparently household contacts of border workers have all been vaccinated because the have now moved to phase 2. No they haven’t. So either the reporter misunderstood or has been lied to given incorrect information.
Nice breakdown of regions ethnicities genders etc in that link but not who.

I not only did it for myself, but more for the people who cannot have the vaccine for genuine and legitimate health reasons. My view is that anyone who fails to follow the same logic, is a dick.
Yip. It's a big F you from me if you don't get vaccinated. I would like to see my family again.
