not many people see them as issues. every time i bring it up on this forum I get machete attacked so presumably most NZers don't see any issues.

Being reactive is OK. It's Ok to have something happen and say, identify it as an area requiring change.

But I don't think it's acceptable to have vaccinated people working in border roles 8 weeks after the vaccination program started (with no shortage in doses)...

I also feel the government had been deliberately hiding information so the public isn't made aware of how poorly this has been managed.

Ah, OK. The thing is though, it's even beyond that, it's no follow up at all. They say 'everyone working at MIQ must be vaccinated' and then no one checks it. Surely, that is the first thing that happens after you make a statement, is something reports to the person in charge the status of all workers, so they know where they are at. They were questioned on it last week, didn't know, PM was questioned again today, STILL didn't know.

It feels a little like they are overwhelmed.

No worry all is safe Auckland DHB board has looked after itself and got their jabs.

Security guards, bottom of the food chain, who cares, what's the worst that could happen, just another minimum wage worker.
I expect its not entirely their fault.
If you are lucky to be on graveyard shift maybe you are expected to come in on your own dime in your own time for testing etc.
It would be interesting to know what really happens.

I do get a strong feeling there is a disconnect at local DHB and MIQ operational level,
things seem to fall over at implementation on the ground.

Even to the point MOH and Government Ministers are told X is happening when happening is really , um we are still thinking about it.
Which is happening , in a way eh.

While we don't call it community spread with more locations of interest in community now dating back to 29th March.

No worry all is safe Auckland DHB board has looked after itself and got their jabs.
May our luck continue, we sure need it, not expecting perfection, at some point we have to be improving due to our learnings.

Situation normal for the MOH. They've been a basket case for a long long time.

Changing that is a very difficult thing and basically impossible during a pandemic.

All vaccinations in Singapore appear to be either Pfizer/BioNTech or Moderna.

Would be interesting to know which strain this is.

Also interesting to see the use of pooled sampling in this case. Seems well managed.

Sorry, I disagree with this. Ultimately, they answer to the ministers. Start firing people and see how much more efficient they get.

The fact the ministers themselves aren't holding people to account means there is no consequence for people failing to do their jobs. Ultimately, that reflects on the Governments competence.

I like the "... Case C wanted to be vaccinated, but there were complications due to their isolation" bit. Which means that the vaccination 'wanted' must have been post-infection (already in isolation). Hence, would have made no difference.

Willy Nilly Firings? No-one suggested such a thing. No, how about performance managing people out of their jobs who are repeatedly failing to meet basic standards? It's what good management does. It clearly doesn't exist, that should trigger it's own set of accountabilities.

it doesn't take 12 months. There are clearly quite a few people not fit for their jobs.

12+ months all the same mistakes being made over and over again. It's pretty obvious that what is being done isn't working.

The fact that the Director of Health and PM can't answer basic questions over the vaccination status of MIQ workers, when they must know it's going to be asked about (quite reasonably after 5+ weeks) isn't great. Why are they even in that position? Why aren't they being updated, and why aren't they demanding better?

This thing has been made up as it's gone along. CERA is the closest thing that NZ has had to this and there were similar problems, and in some cases far worse.

It is absolutely inevitable that there will be big mistakes - no one has done this sort of thing for this long before.

You literally have no idea what performance management is or isn't happening - you do not, and will never, know as that is private.

Why isn’t worksafe investigating a potentially unsafe workplace?

From a lay persons perspective, MIQ do not appear to have all the policies and processes that a reasonable employer would have been expected to implement.

We need more transparency. We need accountability.
