"Pre-print study, not yet peer-reviewed"

New modelling indicates that mandatory mask wearing was the single biggest factor driving down case numbers during Victoria's second COVID-19 wave.

Recommends that face coverings should be the cornerstone of any future public health response.

You honestly couldn't make this up... ONE Job

"A security guard who tested positive last week was previously last tested in November last year - six months ago - even though he is meant to be tested every fortnight.

The information has emerged during the health select committee this morning, when MBIE chief executive Carolyn Tremain said the last test in their system was from November."

LOL. Unbelievable, unless you have been watching the past 12 months and this falls right within what you'd almost expect.

I'm not surprised at all, as networkn said its par for the course. Mistake after mistake...

"Two staff members at the Grand Millennium hotel, one of the largest facilities, tested positive for Covid-19 in the past week. Bliss had also conceded that officials could not be certain workers were being tested in the 14 day surveillance cycle mandated by law."

Hey, hey, hey - be fair: the last recorded test is from November, and so he could have been tested since then. Tremain has said "the guard may have been tested more recently than November - but if so, it wasn't in the system."

Which of course is actually worse, because this means we don't actually know what we think we know 🙄

Has he in fact been working in MIQ facilities since November?

[Edit]

Because...

"Bliss said another IT system, called “Who’s On Location” was set up at the end of 2020 to track who was working at the facilities. A trial of this system has been completed, and the data from it was being “cleansed” to compare to the testing register, to confirm whether the fortnightly testing has been taking place as prescribed."

So many muck ups it's unbelievable we keep dodging bullets. At this point you have to feel there are other undetected cases out there who just haven't cared enough to get tested if they haven't felt more ill than a standard winter cold.

If they have *ANY* symptoms they are supposed to get a test. My daughter had a runny nose and a cough, COVID test. Her 4th.

So literally, 1 in a million chance.

Have the clots been fatal?

About 10% of covid cases need hospitalisation, and there haven't been any hospital admissions. And in fact most of the previous CT has been detected because an infected person went to a hospital or got tested voluntarily, not because they *needed* hospitalisation.

So, if there are undetected cases out there, there's probably a lot less than 10 of them. And because covid spreads rapidly, we can also be fairly sure that if it is out there, it hasn't been for long (otherwise fairly quickly there would be 10 cases, and a hospitalisation or voluntary test).

So there isn't any large unknown cluster, and there's probably no small unknown cluster either.

Of course. But some of the recent cases have also been "supposed to isolate." Unfortunately some people just don't care.

So it seems the've finally found records showing when the MIQ worker was last tested - November.

The level of incompetence we're seeing is still truly unbelievable...

This is what it says

All six cases of the rare brain clots in the United States involving the Johnson & Johnson vaccine occurred among women between the ages of 18 and 48, and symptoms developed six to 13 days after vaccination, according to a statement issued by the FDA and the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention. One vaccine recipient, a Virginia woman, died in March, and her death is being investigated by the CDC, Virginia state officials said in a statement Tuesday. Another woman is in critical condition, an FDA official said Tuesday.
