In my experience doing payroll.
30% use their 5 days entitlement of sick leave in about 3 months, meaning they have no sick leave for the remaining 9 months
30% use their 5 days sick entitlement of sick leave over the course of the year.
20% have 5-10 days accumulated at any one time
10% have 10 -20 days accumulated at any one time
10% hit the 20 days maximum, they never seam to be sick
Interesting. 60% use it all up every year. Any idea how many unpaid sick days occur?
Not that many actually, with a company of 100 people you could expect maybe 50 unpaid sick days a year (total).
Which is only about .5 sick days per employee per year.
I think people tend to increase their threshold significantly as to what they consider "sick enough to not go to work" once they
are not being paid for the day.
