I really hope there is a Level 4 lockdown in Auckland and Level 3 for New Zealand with this announcement. Even though that means "work gets really really busy"

Last week they did announce that it was going to be level 4 nation wide if this is delta(it probably IS delta).

they said level 4 either national or regional
the problem is the Aucklanders will leave to go everywhere 1 hr before lockdown happens

Probably level 4 equiavelent circuit breaker in Auckland and level 3 rest of NZ depending on movements outside of Auckland?
Best to do that right now, even if we know stuff all about it. Right now, spread is more the issue than an investigation on one person. Shut the gate now, and when said investigation gives more data, the gate can be amended
See that the PM and cv19 ministers are both returning to Wellington after being in Auckland. I would have thought it was best to stay put. If we have a lockdown, the virus doesn't know when the lockdown starts.
Hope we aren't going to see an exodus out of Auckland, and thus potentially taking the virus with them.
Stu: I hope the person didn't go to the rugby.
Luckily it was a small crowd.

If I recall correctly, that announcement didn't specify if the Level 4 would be nation wide, or regional. Either way, it seems a forgone conclusion that Auckland will go to level 4 this evening. The uncertainty is around what will alert level will be used for the rest of the north island, and for the south island.
If it was my call, I would probiably do the entire north island under level 4, and the south island under level 3. Basically one chance to get on top of this.
It seems highly probable that the case is a Delta strain, so officials might just move forward under that assumption while waiting for confirmation. (they can allays relax restrictions if another strain is confirmed)

Agree, AKL should not be like SYD one would hope
You could pre-empt the race to the bach by including those spots in the lock down. That would fix them 😀

I think we need to know some more facts about it. When there was a delta case going around Wellington, it only put the Wellington region into level 3. Level 4 is very very expensive.

100%. A day or so is no drama while they hone down on the potential spread.
And here I thought this thread would go dead while everyone would have rushed out to stock up on Loo Paper!
